Default Telltale poll: Fav LucasArts classic

There's a poll on the Telltale homepage, asking what's our favorite LucasArts classic (beyond MI and Sam&Max). Leading so far is Grim Fandango, followed closely by DOTT.
I really don't wanna get my hopes up, but could this be a sign of Telltale planning to revive another franchise?

I don't know. I think I'd rather see an episodic series of DOTT than Grim Fandango, even though as a game I like the latter more. I think DOTT is more suited to the episodic format and fits in nicely with the comedy games TTG is best at. It's much easier to screw up a serious game like Grim Fandango.

I'd welcome a DOTT episodic event with open arms... if it was done in the original 2D art style. I don't wish to see it subjected to substandard 3D as well.

I still can't play more than 15 minutes of Sam & Max, and mostly because of that art design. The original on the other hand I've just revisited and enjoyed immensely. To me something's wrong when I enjoy a game's predecessor of so many years that much more than it's modern day counterpart...

@Erwin_Br
Damned! I was literally thinking the EXACT same thing just now - however while still mulling it over in my head, I realized, I had unconciously already finished the bloody poll in favour of Grim Fandango.

THANKS A LOT for the poll-info cristane!!!

if TellTale screws up Grim Fandango it'll be on your head

Well I put a vote in for The Dig anyways

At 4% when I voted, at least that won't be screwed up any time soon.

Please don't touch Grim Fandango.

If this is a sign that they're planning to buy the rights for another LucasArts-originated series then count me as uninterested. Do something original.

Haha, exact same thing I was thinking when I put my vote in for it. Still at 4%.

But seriously, I think the game best suited for an episodic series is DOTT. Let's hope they're planning something at Telltale.

Sam and Max suffers a bit from lack of polish, in my opinion. I think the artwork is great, but some environments needed a bit more details. I especially remember the tropical island in episode 2 as a bad example. Due to the nature of the game, a lot of locations also feel a bit confined. There's not much to explore.

I don't think the 3D implementation itself is to blame. If you converted the exact same episodes to 2D graphics, you'd have the same shortcomings.

Even so, I did enjoy the Sam and Max episodes very much.

I voted Grim Fandango, but hope they see the pleas for a DOTT series on this forum. IMHO, DOTT, Full Throttle or Maniac Mansion (for similar reasons as DOTT) would make the better episodic series.

Though I would like to see what could be done with Zak McKracken...

I think Grim Fandango would make a good episodic series if it was just set in the same world.
Don't really see how they could continue on with manny.

I hope everyone just stays the hell away from Grim Fandango.

For me, it was a choice between either Grim Fandango or DOTT. In the end I went for the latter. At the time, it never crossed my mind that DOTT would be better suited for an episodic series because of its humour and because it's a cartoon (although they're excellent reasons). I think I went for it, not only because I enjoyed that one the most, but because Grim Fandango is Tim Schafer's game. If a sequel was ever going to be made, he'd need to do it. And I agree, Grim Fandango's story is already well and truly closed.

I wonder what the name might be of a hypothetical Dott episodic game. Unless it has tentacles in the plot, ott probably shouldn't be a part of it. Sure, a lot of the Monkey Island games don't have Monkey Island in them, but still, they ran with it. Dott is a sequel to MM, an entirely differently named game! And both names have something to do with the plot.. BTW, why did both of these end up on the poll?

even though my fav is Day of the Tentacle, (well all time is Indy Atlantis, but oh well) i voted for full throttle because for that i would be interested in playing more from the most. albeit sadly the original voice actor for ben has died if i'm not mistaken.

concerning dott and the 3d engine they are using at telltale, i DO think that dott would lend itself very well to that engine because the art style there was very "sharp and edgy" which i think would be recreated well with the engine, if that makes any sense.

Grim Fandango is my favorite LucasArts classic game, but I'm not sure there's much that can be done to continue the storyline. Of course I would be all for it if they decided to go that route, but I think I'd prefer to see some kind of continuation for Full Throttle. Sam and Max intended to have a sequel and so did this game, so I think that would be the logical choice.

That poll is missing a "Keep your grubby paws off my classics" option.

- That is if this is a thinly veiled attempt to guage public opinion on what franchise they should try next.

I wouldn't want them to continue any of them. Sam & Max and Monkey Island are enough. Day of the Tentacle is my favourite, but neither that or esp Grim Fandango require a sequel.
