50% off all PC games $19.99 or less at Circuit City (1/20 - 1/26)

Check your local ad for confirmation.

As you know, many adventure games retail for $19.99 or less. This means you may be able to find some great half-off deals on adventure games. Some that immediately come to mind include Scratches, Ankh, and Barrow Hill, though there are undoubtably many others at your particular store. If you're lucky, maybe you can find Culpa Innata, Sam and Max, or Dreamfall marked down to $19.99, making these games only $9.99.

Culpa Innata is $17.95 on Steam if you buy before the Jan 25.

Picked up Culpa Innata today for $9.98. They also had Scratches Director's Cut for $14.99 (so about $7.48 after discount), but I didn't get it. Sam and Max was $24.99, unfortunately, so no discount there.

Was it marked $19.99 on the box or did you have to get a price check? I wanted to get Culpa Innata, but at my Circuit City it is marked $29.99. Tried to get some cheap adventures at Best Buy, but they wouldn't price match this deal.

My Circuit City said they never heard of such a sale.

Um, just show them the weekly ad they have at the front of the store. It's right in there. Page 7 at the top.

It turns out quite a few more games apply to this 50% off deal than I thought. Apparently Circuit City is super slow at updating prices on games or they just don't bother to update them at all. I just got Culpa Innata for $10, even though it was labeled $29.99!!! And I'm pretty sure you can get Sam and Max: Season One for that price as well, though I didn't price check it because I already have the games on GameTap. In summary: any game you want, take up to customer service and price check it. It may just ring up as $10.

Thanks for the tip! I just got back from Circuit City and bought:
Ankh for $2.00
Keepsake for $9.48
Agon for $2.00
Scratches for $7.50
Culpa Innata for $10.00
This is the plus side of being an adventure game fan; stores can hardly wait to dump these games on the cheap....

I went there and got

Ghost in the Sheet
Anacapri: The Dream
Undercover: Operation Wintersun

Undercover was actually $29.99, but the cashier rang it up as being $10 too, which was awesome.

I went back to Circuit City and they said that "they do not participate in liquidation sales".

I would imagine it depends on the Circuit City. Theoretically, they should all do the same thing (same sales, etc.) but maybe the manager of your particular Circuit City doesn't want to honor that.

Does that mean that they are verifying that this is a liquidation sale (whether they participate or not)? Does that mean that CC is getting out of the AG biz?

I'm guessing that CC as a whole is trying to get rid of the lingering adventures. I have no doubt they will pick up new titles.

This is not specifically an adventure sale. It is on ALL PC games $19.99 or less. They are just trying to move some older games (and hopefully you buy something else while you are there). It is nothing out of the ordinary (there are bins of $8.96 Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube games at Circuit City right now). These percentage off sales happen quite a few times a year at various electronic stores. I would not call them liquidation sales either. They are relatively commonplace.

I picked up a couple of Sims "Fun Stuff" packs that I never would have bought otherwise (Teen Stuff Celebration Stuff for $5 and Holiday Stuff for $1.39). Did see some adventure games there, but not ones I was looking for.
