Fantasy Adventure Games?
Hello I'm rather new to the whole adventure game scene and I've recently just played "Loom" which is by far one of the best games I've come by in a while. I'm also a fan of the Quest for Glory games but anyways, I was just wondering if there are any other games out there in similar vein to those two or just good fantasy adventures in general. I'm looking for something with a lot of exploration and interaction, kind of like Ultima I guess haha. So, any ideas? And thanks for helping a noob out

Welcome to the forums.
Loom is a very unique game especially in terms of its puzzle design so there aren't really any just like it but... For older games, I would say try the Kyrandia series (there are 3 of them and they can be found on eBay). For a couple of newer games you can try The Longest Journey or Keepsake. Check out our Reviews page to get a sense of what those games are like and if they may fit what you're looking for. Also check out this thread for some other information since you're new to AGs and some additional game recommendations in other categories. I'm sure there will be other recommendations as well! |

Thanks, I'll definitely check it out! It might seem like blasphemy around here but I don't really dig a lot of the puzzles in adventure games, especially since they revolve around a lot of seeming random and illogical item manipulation which is why I really really liked Loom and Quest for Glory (I'm a big fan of RPGs, especially old-school DOS era types) because they focused more on exploration, so I'm interested in games in that sort of vein

The King's Quest series seems like the obvious first suggestion to make. I'd go for KQ6 personally, especially if you can find the CD talkie version. Already mentioned, but the Legend of Kyrandia series came to mind as well, along with the Discworld games. They might be less formulaic than other fantasy titles, but if you like wacky british humor, then you'll totally dig those games as well.

I consider the Syberia games to be excellent fantasy-bent AGs.

I'd really recommend the Discworld series, and The Longest Journey. Awesome games.
