Sam and Max
Regarding the Sam and Max episodic content, I see Play.com has a Sam and Max game marked as forthcoming. Is this the same game? Call me a traditionalist if you like, but I would much rather purchase a 'hardcopy' of the game rather than the download route. This already is an option in the UK for some content like BF2142's expansion, Sin Episode One, The Ship etc.

There will be a boxed release of Sam & Max in stores this August, published by Dreamcatcher worldwide. This is probably what you're seeing on Play.com.
An alternative: If you buy the downloadable versions of the games from Telltale, you also have the option of getting a DVD with the games shipped to you that includes a bunch of extras. (The disc is "free" with the purchase of the the downloadable season, but even if you're just interested in the disc $35 is a good deal.) The extras for the retail version haven't been announced yet so you might want to wait and compare the features of each. A list of what Telltale's will include can be found here. While we have a Sam & Max thread its worth noting Curse of Monkey Island writer Chuck Jordan has officialy joined Telltale Games and begun working on Sam & Max: Season 2. You can read about it on his blog here: http://www.spectrecollie.com/archive...k-to-school-2/

Is the free-except-for-shipping disc for downloaders going to be different from the in-the-shops one, then? I'd been assuming they were the same.

They may not have the same contents, no, but as Udvarnoky said, no details of the retail release have been announced yet.

No, the two discs will not be exactly the same.
Details of TAC's release should be coming pretty soon. |

Maybe "VILLAIN'S NAME": A SAM AND MAX ADVENTURE or something sillier...

*bump*
Didn't see the point in starting a new thread, but for anyone interested, the achievements have been released for Sam & Max - Season One a.k.a. Sam & Max Save the World. This should mean the release of Season One on XBLA is coming up. I'm a bit surprised the whole season is going to be released in one go. I thought, like with the PC, they were going to release the episodes each month.
