It may be just me, but 20 seems an odd number to score out of. Am I the only one who thinks that 14/20 looks worse than 7/10?

In the French schooling system, all marks are given out of 20, which is why most French review sites use that. And, when you think about it, it's not a bad system: it's less limited than 10, but without getting ridiculous (which is the case for 100; seriously, what is the difference between a game getting 82% and a game getting 83%?).

Fair enough. I wasn't trying to say it's wrong, just that my perception has somehow distorted the score into being less than it is.

The percentage system can work if applied well. If a reviewer has given a game 70% and then his next game is, he feels, better but not worthy of an 80%, then he has more to play around with.
