EDIT: Looks like I'm right. And now that I think about it, I think that was from that bar/restaurant place, right? I should replay Nutso one day; it was fun. (And now, apart from #15 which I know the answer to but will leave for someone else, and #1 which still drives me crazy, I'm pretty sure I've never heard the other extracts.) |

fully deserved
now let me gonna think out loud about the hints and do some wild guesses since no one is answering. i would say that "common location for adventure games" could mean something like Egypt or Atlantis so the music #1 might be something like Ankh. the "fantasy freeware" adventure could be something like Apprentice but i don't remember that tune so judging by good music for a freeware production i'll go with A Tale of Two Kingdoms #7 is still bugging me off as is #9 too. Music and "the plant" does sound familiar though but i can't quite remember it as for #10 a quick stab in the dark would be The Dig because i think there are many ambient sounds and music in that one about #11 and #16 i don't really a clue, other that a "militaristic sound" in the first one sounds like a street parade orchestra and could be world war 2 themed Last edited by diego; 03-31-2010 at 07:36 AM. |

@Zobraks - I reuploaded it, maybe it'll work now:
http://rapidshare.com/files/370437760/Trivia.ogg.html @ZeframCochrane - Now that I compare them, it might be an accidental similarity. Still, here's some info. Apparently the original song is called 'Gorod no Kame' and is from an old movie. Here's a page of someone who did all the work for me: http://www.guitarandluteissues.com/Dugit/dugit.htm Here's the children's song in Hebrew: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY-Si8wzx7k @Kurufinwe - #3 is indeed Lupe. I remember really liking her 'theme' back when I played GF. #14 - Right. The place/music is called 'Corset Makers' Club'. I like it, it reminds me of 'The Entertainer'. @diego - Yes, #1 is Ankh. It's not associated with a place or a person but rather a certain mood. I'll leave it open for now. The rest are incorrect. I'll give more hints in a new post because this one is getting quite long. |

Correct answers and hints:
1) Ankh - what context? (diego) 2) Sam and Max 105 - Lefty's 2.0 (ZeframCochrane) 3) Grim Fandango - Lupe (Kurufinwe) 4) 5) Nick Bounty 2 - End Credits (Diego) 6) Ceville - Ceville's Theme (Diego) 7) 8) Gabriel Knight 2 - The Smiths (Luna Sevithiainen) 9) 10) 11) 12) Sam and Max 203 - Battle with Jurgen (Kurufinwe) 13) Keesake - Mustavio's Theme (Kurufinwe) 14) Mr. Smoozles Goes Nutso - Corset Makers' Club (Kurufinwe) 15) Syberia - Komkolzgrad (ZeframCochrane) 16) 17) Machinarium - Black Cap Brotherhood (Fien) 18) Discworld Noir - Where? (diego) 19) Fate of Atlantis - The Crab-like Raft (Luna Sevithiainen) 20) Tales of Monkey Island Ep3 - Chased (Kurufinwe) 4 - The ending song is not in Czech. 7 - Indie game. The previous game from the developer is related to an adventure website. 9 - The hero is afraid of heights. 10 - A game with two names. A man with two bodies? 11 - Likes telling long stories about the war. 16 - Indie game. Second in a trilogy. 18 - The location's name is closely related to a Discworld book. |

It works! Thanks!
I mainly wanted to hear that part from Discworld Noir. I wonder how Diego got it (?), he said he had not play the game .

About number 8, The Smiths. Odd that I didn't recognize it, although I am participating in the GK2 playthrough. So I went back to the 3 moments in the game where I met the Smiths. Different music in the gasthof. Are we really supposed to recognize the Smiths theme from the ending movie in chapter two? There seems to be some music in the background but it's very, very soft. Or is this particular piece part of the music CD?

@diego - Nope. The name of the place has the name of a Discworld novel in it.
@Fien - This is from my music files. I checked it in a video, and you can hear a very short part of it in the background when Grace talks to them. I'm relying on the file names for some of the locations because I played some of those games a long time ago. GK2 is the oldest: I played it 14 years ago. |

Are you saying the music is indeed in the game and for some reason I cannot hear it, perhaps the installer or some other interference? What video do you mean? I'd like to check it too.

OK, time for answers!
1) Ankh - Action theme This plays both in Ankh 1 and 2 (possibly 3 as well but I haven't played it yet). 4) 5 Magical Amulets - Dwarf's Cave I really like the music in this game. I think the soundtrack is still avaialable on their site. 7) Intrigue at Oakhaven Plantation - Crystal Ball (plays in the game room I think) One of you even said he was 'intrigued' by this music . 9) Jack Keane - Capetown (also plays for the plant in Dr. T's house) This music is annoying but memorable. 10) Martin Mystere - Playing as the old man (near the end of the game) I actually had to combine two files together for the 'music' but I'm pretty sure that's how it plays in the game. 11) Wallace and Gromit - Major Crum's theme 16) Blackwell Unbound - Mavis Faces Eternity 18) Discworld Noir - Temple of Small Gods |

I don't think this thread has ever had any kind of rules. Whoever's willing to spend the time necessary to prepare a new file goes next and makes up his/her own set of rules for that file.
(BTW, thank you again Shany for the previous one! I can't believe I missed the one from Wallace & Gromit. They really need to release a soundtrack for those games.) |
