Gabriel Knight 4
If you've read the most recent issue of The Inventory (Volume #10 I think) you will see an interview with Jane Jensen. One of things she talks about in the interview is the Gabriel Knight series and GK4 which she pitched to Vivindi last year. She said that the story for GK4 would have involved a really spooky haunting. (Everyone who typed GK4 into Sidney knew that it most likely had something to do with ghosts. ) This story sounds extremely interesting... she even stated that if Vivindi does not allow her to use it in a GK game she might use it in another project. (Although I would prefer to see Gabriel Knight and Grace Nakimura on the case. )
My question is related to Vivindi. Have they been sold yet? If so, now that the company has been sold is their a chance that they can sell or liscence the GK series to Jane Jensen. In the interview she states that Vivindis properties were all frozen until it was sold. The story for GK4 sounds awesome and GK3 left lots of unanswered questions that GK fans want to know the answer to relating to... Spoiler: |

That's just one question that needs answered, another one that is very important is....
There's spoiler's here, but I didn't know how to tag em. Whether or not Grace is pregnent. As to where she went I think it was to study under that shaman guy she was in contact with. |

Oh man, never even thought about that (typical guy, i know). I highly doubt Vivendi would make something as risky as GK4 with their financial situation. I wonder who would buy the liscence though, if it were to be bought....probably TAC or something... |

well, what with jane's new company and her focus on her new game (as the first of a series), i doubt lobbying for the rights to GK4 is her top priority. doubt vivendi would give them up, either. but maybe the success of the new LSL game and/or the success of jane's new game (assuming they're both successful) could change management's mind.
as for the gabe/grace story Spoiler: -emily |

Spoiler: Fov: I agree that right now its not the top priority and I can't wait for the new series which is my most anticipated game (Just read my Project Jane-J thread. I haven't anticipated a game this much sinch Gabriel Knight III: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned was in production.), but it would be cool to know that Gabriel Knight 4 would eventually be made. If Vivindi does sell or liscence the game now that their assetts arn't frozen, I think that Odyssey Digital Entertainment maybe able to pick it up. (Depending on the price.) Gabriel Knight III: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned is my favourite adventure game. |

clearly, vivendi's assets being frozen isn't preventing them from making games. they're making the new LSL game, among others. i actually am not sure about the assets being frozen - what i remember from the sale was that the gaming division was not being sold, and vivendi was retaining a stake in it (in other words, they chose not to sell VU Games along with the other assets so they could continue to control VU Games).
as for the grace speculation above Spoiler: more info than you wanted to know? 8-) Spoiler: Mnemonic, do you know how/where to find that file? i'd like to hear it. -emily |

He you guys forgot about one thing: Spoiler: Anyway I read somewhere that we will never see the Sierra adventure games we knew from the old days (including GK3). When Vivendi bought Sierra the general idea was to stop making adventure games and use Sierra's good name to produce games for the console market plus make incredible amounts of money with Half-Life 2... |

If you want to extract it yourself: 1) run GK3 2) bring up the console (Ctrl+Shift+~) 3) Type: Extract ("E1HE4Y4PV9N.YAK", "") But then again, it may be a part of a huge conspiracy Oh, and of course, as usual in this thread, this is a SPOILER |

On the Vivendi front - Vivendi has moved back into profit under the new CEO, and the deal to merge/sell their american television interests to NBC will help slash their debts somewhat. I've read that they will now not be selling Universal Music nor Vivendi Universal Games, though I can't find the page I read that on now. But Vivendi Games is in the red (and losses actually increased this year), and that most of the recent profits are actually from the assests they are about to sell. (http://media.guardian.co.uk/city/sto...098461,00.html )
So in short, no they have not been sold yet, and no deal seems to be on the horizon.

I was hoping the next Gabriel Knight game could've been about a giant man-eating ape. They could've called it 'Gabriel Knight: Apes Ahoy!'. But I guess that was being unrealistic.

hmm. it's been so long since i played GK3 (and i only played it once, unlike GK2 which i have played over and over and over...) Maybe I need to play again and watch for this. Then again, maybe it would only be a disappointment, knowing there probably won't be a GK4.
As for the "thing" in Gabe's wallet: Spoiler: just curious. -emily |

Nope, you can't actually look at it, it's just poking out of his wallet in the close-up. I tried several times, but all I got was "It's my wallet..." Pretty descriptive there... |

So I guess a GK4 novelization won't happen either? That sucks, IMHO.
