Sherlock inspiration
I think this ties in with other questions, but I wonder a little bit about where you get the inspiration for making this Sherlock games. I assume that you all have read the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but what other sources have you used to gain isnpiration to catch the rather unique Sherlockian atmosphere?

As we said from the beginning of the presentation of the game, the story is based on an existing novel "the case of Sherringford Hall", which includes everything we needed for the game. for the modelization of Sherlock, we based the works on our two favorites Sherlock's incarnator : Boris Karloff and Tom Cruise, we then made a mix of the two characters, which has differences and similarities (one is three meters high and looks like a monster, the other is a dwarf playboy, and they are both biped) More seriously we took Peter Cushing and the exceptionnal, fantastic, sensible, fragile, hard as a rock, Jeremy Brett. We made a mix of them and the result looks like........Christopher Lee (who played Sherlock, his brother Mycroft Holmes, and sir Henry Baskerville in various movies). I went to London few times to make few thousands of photos, to stick to the London architecture, which is quite different than the 60's soviet we have in Kiev. It was a big fear, that we, the french (arrogant and pretentious), could do a game about Sherlock Holmes, in the year of his 150th birthday, in the 100th birthday of the "entente cordiale" between England and France, and that we can stick to the subject so well that the English specialist can say "wow, it's a great game" reply the 27th of august.... |
