Can someone please give me a definitive solution to this puzzle please (reasons for answer would be a bonus too).

If you're still stuck after the hints, the solution is below, but I'm working from memory now, so the explanations are already getting hazy.

Big, fat, honkin', beyond-the-point-of-no-return spoiler:

Spoiler:

1. Crab (clue from Jester's note - an animal afraid of the water and waves, sounds like an animal on a shoreline)
2. Deer (pictured on wall; description matches Jester clue)
3. Bear (pictured on wall; description matches Jester clue)
4-7. Any other animal in any order
8. Eagle (last picture on wall; not afraid of water - the text clue here is the most confusing part of the puzzle)

Thank you, but why in that order as i could not see the reason for the order of the animals

The order is included in the jester's text (if you look at the sequence in which they're listed).

I think the wording is something like, "the first animal is afraid of water...", so that's number 1, and so on. Then the clues skip from the third animal to the last animal (therefore, #8)

You did get the jester's text, right?
