Dark Fall: The Journal
What a game - it's huge, for being just in a train station. I still haven't discovered everything, but I have two questions:
In Crabtree's room, there's a puzzle with 4 symbols around a bowl of water. I have seen the two photos that say where to put the symbols, but nothing happens. Should something happen? Am I not putting them in the right spot? Second, where is the cellar? It's reference in Polly and Nigel's notes, but I haven't found a cellar. Thanks for help. This is an amazing game, but because you can access everything right away, it's difficult to know which clue helps which puzzle. Thanks!

Hi,
Dark Fall: The Journal is one of my favourite games. Obviously, you need to make sure the right symbols are placed in exactly the right spots on the circle. Because the photo is in black and white, you might be mixing up one symbol with another. If you're pretty sure you have the right symbols in approximately the right spots, then you should try moving one or more ever so slightly along the circle, since the game is very picky about the exact spots. Something will happen when you place them correctly. Hopefully, you'll be able to find the entrance to the cellar with a bit more careful exploration, but if you need it, here's a hint: Spoiler: Hope this helps! If you need more hints, just post in this thread again. Good luck with the rest of the game! T.

One of my all-time favorite games, too.
Those symbols were really hard for me to place, too, and it helped me to find the different shapes in the circle. The chalk circle tends to part into two lines then go back to one, which leaves little ovals around teh circle. It always helped me to see where the symbols were supposed to go according to those ovals. Not sure if I explained it clearly enough, but hope this helps. Enjoy!
