Dark Fall: The Journal is one of my favourite games.
Obviously, you need to make sure the right symbols are placed in exactly the right spots on the circle. Because the photo is in black and white, you might be mixing up one symbol with another. If you're pretty sure you have the right symbols in approximately the right spots, then you should try moving one or more ever so slightly along the circle, since the game is very picky about the exact spots. Something
will happen when you place them correctly.
Hopefully, you'll be able to find the entrance to the cellar with a bit more careful exploration, but if you need it, here's a hint:
Spoiler:Search in the vicinity of the reception desk.
