Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo [Windows 7]
Hi,
I am trying to play this game In Dosbox version 0.73 and everything appears fine except for the fact that the sound seems to very briefly skip every 10 seconds or so. Is there any way I can rectify this issue? |

It seems fine to me. Are you using default dosbox settings?

Yes, I believe so. How can I double check just in case?
Also, for the initial sound setup during installation which options did you choose? |

If you go to DOSBox-0.73 in your Start Menu and start the "Reset Configuration", it will set your dosbox.conf to defaults. Keep in mind that you will lose any entries in the autoexec section for mounting drives that you may have added. Easy enough to re-add.
Another thing that can lead to your problem might be from momentary hangs as it tries to access the CD. Mounting an ISO of your original disc as the CD drive should solve this. Let me know if you need help with this. |

I reset the dosbox settings and still the same issue.
Also, I extracted all the cd files into a seperate folder on my computer and I still have the same issue. Not sure what else I can do. |

Try making an ISO of the CD and mounting that.

I mounted the iso. Now when i type install it says Drive C - bytes free, drive D 0 bytes free and it keeps going up from there until it says sherlock cannot be installed.
I used the command "imgmount c ccase.iso -t iso" It seems like it cant find a place to install the game even though my drive C has plenty of space. |

Also mount your C: drive, first. You need to tell DOSBox where the ISO is, i.e.:
imgmount d "[your path to]\case.iso" -t iso Of course, change [your path to] to where it is on your PC's hard drive, not the DOSBox emulated drive. |

Try placing the ISO in the game's directory and mounting it from there.

Q: The sound stutters or sounds stretched/weird. A: You're using too much CPU power to keep DOSBox running at the current speed. You can lower the cycles, skip frames, reduce the sampling rate of the respective sound device (see the DOSBox configuration file) or the mixer device. You can also increase the prebuffer in the configfile. If you are using cycles=max or =auto, then make sure that there is no background processes interfering! (especially if they access the harddisk) |
