Default saving in broken sword

Dumb question, but how do I save a game in Broken Sword 1? I don't see any menu.

Yeah, I know, I tried it but a menu isn't showing up.

I'm using ScummVM.

(Also, for some reason, I copied the sound and music folders into the directory but for some reason the speech is all jumbled - the speech doesn't match the subtitles, the little kid says lines from an old man, etc)

Don't know about the subs, but I think for Scumm you have to press F5 (or another F key) to bring on the save menus (scumm uses it's own save system.
