Help! Indiana Jones And The Infernal Machine.
Hi everyone! Has anyone managed to install this game on Windows Xp system as I am seriously frustrated with the damn thing! I have tried everything including downlaoding the latest update patch for the game but it still crashes and or locks up frequently! I would be grateful for any tips on getting it to work. Thanks peeps!

Nope, sorry.
I assume you've tried the compatability modes? (Properties -> Compatability) They might help if you haven't. Also check this thread out over at VOGONS. The problems are not the same but who knows, maybe the solutions may work for you. And finally, might we have your system specs?

Lucasarts.com says that the game is not compatible with XP at all. I had pretty much the same problem as you when I tried to play Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. Although I also had a PC with Windows 98 so I could still play it on that operating system.
Here's the Lucasarts.com link were it says it doesn't work. (I know this post isn't very useful. ) You can check to see if other Lucasarts games are Windows XP compatible by going to this link. |

Give up and play it on a Windows 98 machine. It will NOT work under Windows XP correctly, period. I wish some fan-site would create a fan-patch, but I doubt it.

Play Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine on XP
Quote:
First, Uninstall your Video Driver through Device Manager, not through the Control Panel. Click on the Video driver you got install, click on Driver, and then on click Uninstall. Restart your Computer, went the computer the boot up, don't put driver back in. Let XP put the driver for you, go to Settings in Display Properties. See if it 800 by 600 pixels, Highest (32 bit), if not change it to that. Now install the game, sat up the game, and then play the game. Don't install Jones3D Patch, if you do, you will get a black screen. Now install your video driver back in, and then sat up the screen size. It works for me. |

I guess I'm the only person who never had any problem running this under XP. Didn't have to change compatibility settings or anything - it just worked. But yeah, since for most people there is no easy way to play IM on XP, this is one of those cases where it's a good idea to have either a dual-boot configuration with Windows 98 and XP or another machine with 98 on it.
IM was also released for Playstation, so if nothing else works, you could pick up a cheapo used copy of the Playstation version and play it in a good Playstation emulator. Back before I had my own PS, I used to play many PS games under Bleem with no problems. |
