Journey to the centre of the earth

I am stuck on the puzzle in the giant village, where you are supposed to put two shells and mastondon hairs in the bowl in the arena. All the walkthroughs say that you have to put these three things in that vase. I put the two shells, but the hair just won't go into the vase, no matter how much or where I click.

Any idea, is this a bug that needs patching?

I can't quite remember but I think you have to click on the shells again before putting the hair in.
