Default Moment of silence freezes

After installing The Moment of Silence last night it has frozen up 3 times. When it is working it appears to work fine.

It is installed on a P4 3.2, Asus P4c, 1GB ram, ATI AIW9800. Has anyone heard of freezing problems with this game

Na the game worked just fine on my P4 2.8G pc. Try to following steps

1- Reinstall the game.
2- Update your directx and vga and sound drivers.
3- Run a virus check on your drive.
4- Are you overclocking your pc if yes then reset back to orignal state while playing.

If I reinstall, would it be better to uninstall first?

I have directx 9.0c and the latest video drivers and sound drivers.
No virus are detected with Norton AV.
I am not overclocking, I never get freeze ups with other programs.

When it freezes, I can still call up Windows Task Manager and end the game. It just freezes in mid sentence, at different stages, and the game will not respond.

Are you running non-Windows tune-up/tweaking utilities (WinStyler and the like)? If so, disable/uninstall them.

I just tried running it from a clean-boot. It still froze up. It does not freez Win XP, just the game freezes. I can end the game with Task Manager and everything still is fine.

Hi Oldspook
This may sound silly but is the cd dirty ? Do you have the auto installer turned on (if so disable it and maybe that will work.
I played it on my wimpy computer and never had a problem. Another question. Is it the DVd or the cd version ?

I found out what was making it freeze. I have a keyboard with a volume control, than controls the volume. When the volume is moved, the game freezes. While I was playing I must have bumped the control and didn't realize it. I disabled the control and played for 3 hours without freeze-up.

This volume control works fine with all other games I have played. MOS is the only game that freezes when volume is changed.

Can you provide me with the keyboard type and manufacturer name?

(You can still tweak all volume settings separately in the in-game options menu, btw)

The keyboard is a Logitech Elete, the wired model, not the wireless. It has multimedia controls, including a volume control, that works by changing the master volume in the sound system..

I believe it is my sound system, Sound Max Asus onboard, that crashes the game when master volume is changed. It also crashes if I change the volume with the system tray icon when the game is minimized. I can control the volume with the control on my powered speakers; it is just easier to use the control on the keyboard.

Anyway, I finished the game; it was good with good ending. I am now looking for another good adventure game to play.
