Default Broken Sword 3 Problem

Hello. I need your help. I have just installed BS3, and when i am trying to start it, the startup screen freezes. I don't even get to see the buttons on that window. What can i do?

Try running tha game from the file Broken Sword-Safe video Mode. Then choose a proper screen resolution. I 've the same problem when trying to run the game under 1024X786 with 32bit color mode. My system uses Geforce Ti 4200. Can somebody help? (By the way i am a new poster)

I'm having the same problem (WinXP pro, GF 4200). Tried installing where the game wants to be installed, tried lowering the resolution in windows to 800x600, tried 800x600x16bit, tried XP:s safe mode, tried running the "safe video mode" version - the game always locks up and takes 99% of the CPU when doing so.

I'll try to update my GFX drivers and getting the latest DirectX next (hate living without an internet connection... ).

In general, what I had to do was to make sure no refresh rate override programs were running, and that "defaults" was set in the dxdiag utility:s rightmost tab. It might also have been that the refresh for 800x600 was set to 144Hz on my system for some strange reason...

It seems that BS3 wants full control over the resolution and refresh rate, otherwise it will just freeze up.

Also, you can't run the game at the same resolution/depth as your desktop.

I have found out what was the problem. The Nvidia Drivers. I had 52.16 version drivers and the game was freezing. Then i tried with 45.23 version drivers and it is working. So if you have the latest drivers for nvidia..... replace them with the old ones (45.23). These drivers are better than the newer ones. I also noticed it in 3dmarks.

BTW... the game is superb.
