Default Excellent Game Psychonauts To Appear On PlayStation 2

Yep, it's finally happened: Double Fine are developing the Excellent Game Psychonauts for the PS2. That brings the platforms to a total of three: PS2, PC and Xbox.

IGN.com had some sort of exclusive on these news. Click here for their scoop. Oh, and there's new pictures too.

This doesn't change a thing for me. I know the Xbox and PC versions are still going to be great (Getting the Xbox one most likely) so I won't mind. This just means that this game will make it's way into more gamers' hands once it's released.

YAY

I love the graphic style and setting in this game, it makes such a change from test labs/military bases where things have gone horribly wrong

I like the idea of a man thinking he's Napoleons brother Fred (very Spike Milligan-esque)

Though i have a bad feeing that this game, will be one of those games that gets rave reviews. Yet is only brought by a handfull of people

Won't there be a GameCube version? It's seems quite fit for that particular console

Nothing has been said of course, but I'd strongly suspect there won't be. All three consoles plus PC would really be pushing it. This isn't EA we're dealing with here.

Psychonauts for the PC
Fable for the PC

Is there truly a reason to buy an Xbox now?

So PC, PS2 & X-Box is standard fare, but to add a Gamecube release would all of a sudden be totally pushing it? It's not like it's console-exclusive anymore, so now it just seems rather random to publish it on three platforms and not just take in the fourth as well. And it gives off the umpteenth signal that Gamecube owners seem to be second-rate gamers or something.

But it may yet come. I'm trusting either Majesco or Tim will see that it'd be erratic to leave out the Gamecube.

Yep, it's been public knowledge for a while now. But I guess you haven't been around as much as you used to.

I'm definitely going to buy the PC version, no consoles for me in the foreseeable future.

I think it'll eventually appear on PC as well, much like Star Wars: KotOR.

No, PC, PS2, and Xbox aren't "standard fare", it's in fact extremely surprising that it's coming to all of those systems (well, PS2 anyway). I mean, it's theoretically possible that GameCube is coming as well, but Double Fine is already taking on an enormous extra workload with a PS2 port and I just can't see adding another console this late in the game.

But the Xbox costs about 10p now! It's so cheap it's silly not to buy it.

True, it might get even cheaper, but it'll be cheaper still if you wait until you're dead.

Well XBOX 2 will be backward compatible with XBOX most probably. If they don't do that, they will be shooting themselves in the foot. As it stands, almost every single XBOX game is available for the PC or PS2.
