Default Blue Dragon

We don't have a Blue Dragon thread? A disgrace!

They released a new Blue Dragon Thumbnail video today (you can find the previous ones here and here), this one showing off some town sequences. I grabbed a peculiar screenshot I wanted to share. What's the little rascal staring at?

It's an Xbox 360 JRPG made by Hironobu Sakaguchi (the creator of Final Fantasy), with art by Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragon Ball) and music by Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger). Basically, it's Microsoft's attempt at wooing Japanese Dragon Quest fans.

So yeah, that pretty much covers it. But looks like a very nice game if you're into old school JRPGs.

Speaking of Japanese RPG.

Have you played FF 12 yet. It's not out in the UK until February, but Eurogamer gave it a 10/10.

Not me, I'm really not that interested in Final Fantasy games, at least not most of them.

It's been getting raving reviews left and right. Do you need any prior knowledge of final fantasy to play it? Or is it independent of its predecessors?

I'd say it's independent, like most FF games are.

Well I assume the story is independent but it does take place in the world of Final Fantasy Tactics (I believe)....I dunno how much of the events in this game might be affected by the events in that game.

Blue Dragon looks crisp and clean, but looks a bit too 'kiddie' for me. Dragon Quest 8 was an incredible game and the characters looked a little similar (thanks to Toriyama) though, so you never know. Then again, Level-5 might be my favorite developer right now, so I am sure that helped. Still, FF12 is likely much much better than Blue Dragon. (see below)

I am 30 hours into FF12 and I cannot stop singing its praises. I didn't even think I would care about it until a few weeks ago when the hype started building with the stellar previews/reviews. I see what they mean now. The game is definitely top 5 PS2 games ever imho and the best FF game (besides Tactics, but that wasn't really a traditional FF game). It is set in Ivalice, but the events in Tactics have nothing to do with the events here (though some people/places/creatures you will recognize ). If you have never played a FF or got tired of them with X or X-2, please do yourself a favor and play this one--you will not regret it!!!
