Good to hear, thx for the info Kuze! I hate that old pathetic TV I have but there is no way for me to justify upgrading it since I don't watch television or movies... ever. It would just be an expensive Wii monitor.

Those are some nice specs there Kuze. While the other "next gen" systems easily surpass it, I must say that it's still noticably above the last generation. Millions of people are still playing old console games and Wii is hardly an old system by those specs. Works for me.

£179 is a bit much.
$250 = £130 approx. You can get an Xbox360 Core pack for £199.

The games look fine to me, but they're too damn expensive! Developing for Wii is much cheaper than developing for Xbox 360 or PS3, why aren't games much cheaper, too? Between 49 and 59 Euros for software? That's not fair.
The price of hardware is relatively fine, but I'm not willing to pay that much for spruced up GameCube games. I thought Wii would be my first next gen console, but I think I'll go with the 360.

I guess I was expecting game to be on the cheaper side too. I was figuring $40 or so. Likely, as time goes on, a wider price delta will emerge and we'll see games retail anywhere between $20 and $50.

What the heck are Wii points? And why do they cost money?
(Yes, I could look it up somewhere, but asking is so much easier.) |

I think Wii points are what you use to buy virtual console games, though don't quote me on that.
I'm disappointed in the way the non US and Japan portion of the world seems to be getting fucked over when it comes to price. I was expecting to buy one at launch but am now considering sticking to just the PC, PS2 and DS for a while longer (God knows I have more games than time right now anyway.) Though if I do (almost inevitably) cave I will definitely be getting Zelda, Rayman and Red Steel at launch. I also feel like mentioning that those new Mario screenshots are probably the best looking anything I've seen in the next/new generation. Last edited by Junkface; 09-15-2006 at 07:16 AM. |

£179 is just too much. At £150 or less I might have considered it, but I'd forgotten that all the hardware manufacturers screw the Europeans over when it comes to price.
Looks like I'm waiting for it to fall in price, then. Which leaves me in two minds about whether I want it to do well at retail . |

Maybe im just a moron, but i think the prize is pretty good...
maybe it's 'couse im livin' in sweden, and dont really know how much a euro is worth here anyway, so im probably really wrong. and BTW: those Mario pics really do look great

Sounds like just about the same price as the GameCube, when it was new. With Wii Sports bundled. Of course I would've wanted it to be lower, but I'm fine with the current pricing, though.
Jack, Wii Points are to buy the old games (or the Opera browser) on the Virtual Console. So they have to cost money, obviously. EDIT: Also, interesting that they'll have a huge headstart ahead of PS3 in Europe.

I'm not too bothered about the price (I don't see how anyone could be, it's bundled with a game!), but getting one at launch seems to be pretty risky business. I mean, this whole technology could prove to be a bit useless.
Still, it looks like fun, and a Wii with Zelda, some other game and Wii Sports at launch could hardly turn out to be a bad thing could it? EDIT: I just realized that I might not be able to fit the sensorbar on top of my television. The screen might be too thin/flat...

Also, the GameCube enjoyed little enough success that I was able to get it for about £75 only a couple of months later...
