The games are to expensive?
What did you guys wanted? The price of DS games? They maintain the Gamecube price, I think that is good news.

And what's the point of comparing the price to the X360 Core, I thought the Core was useless.

Anyway, I was hoping for a 230 euros price, but as usual Euros=dollars in the game industry... No surprises there.

But it still seems like a good deal.

Edit: By the way, the worst news from todays conference was that it seems it's not region-free after all. Argh...

People will resent the fact that it can't play DVD's, even though they don't need it to.

Agreed! In addition to Wii Sports, which comes bundled with the console, I'll probably get the Zelda game, Elebits, and that Monkey Ball game they announced, Banana Blitz. Soooo many titles on launch day!! WOOT! My nephews will be salivating over it!!!

I was disappointed to hear about the lack of DVD playback...for all of 2 seconds.

I'm so excited about the launch as well ! I'm getting an extra wiimote (so my non-gamer boyfriend can play with me), Zelda, and Rayman. Haven't decided about the Wiipoints until I see what exactly is available. I'm not all that interested in buying the classic Nintendo games since I've played them to death already...

I also intend to buy everything on Amazon so there's no sales tax! I just hope they don't make me buy a bundle with stuff I don't want...

I want to pay $50 for Wii games, not $64-$76.

Not at all, apart from some unnecessary (yet neat) extras, the only real difference is in the hard drive. But you can always buy one later and I bet we'll be seeing some larger and maybe even cheaper 360 hard drives real soon.

So do I, but it never happened, Gamecube games were also that price, I'm just happy it isn't anything close 70-75 euro (almost 100$) like the X360 ones in my country.

And if the Wiimote comes with Wii Play like in Japan it's a must buy launch title

Right now I only remember Table tennis, snooker, duck hunt or something, but I think I saw others in a menu shown in a gamespot video.

GameCube was almost cutting edge when it appeared, Wii is not. There's no other explanation for the high price of Wii games but greed.

Yes, GameCube games are already $76-$88 in my country as well, but that only means Wii games would be even more expensive. Xbox 360 games are around $90.

Without thumbing through all 4 pages of the thread, I have a quick question.

I saw $250 for the console, and some separate amount for the Wiimote and nunchuck and retro controller. Do those come with the console at $250 or will I have to pay for those in addition to the $250 console? $300+ dollars would make me reconsider buying it, definitely.

EDIT: Actually, forget it. That wouldn't make any sense. Must be for second controllers.

If I remember correctly, you can place the sensor bar below your television, anyway.

Yeah, like every console, it comes with the standard controller (Remote + Nunchuk), the Classic controller you need to buy, though.

As for the GameCube, it was definately $250 in Iceland on launch, and long afterwards. But then again, we've got horrible prices on everything over here.

It's what they think will be the optimal price point. Come on, all game prices are based on greed, whether they are high or low.

But in this case it's shameless, brazen greed.

For some reason I was always under the impression that there were two sensor bars. One on top of your TV, and one below it. It shouldn't be a problem then.
