I think he was implying that he had already played through the Myst series and thus there's no point to trep's comment because the Myst series is over. Moriarty craves new exploration games.

He may want to see them that way, but nobody involved in the production of said games sees them that way. Metroid continuing to be Metroid does not mean it has lost its way, even if he'd rather see it go down a different path.
