You know, I never much cared for the Larry games, but at least both Lowe and the games he made had a bunch of personality. The gaming industry needs that right now.

What the hell has Al Lowe been doing all this time? A creative force like him should not be dormant.

Please somebody send me a link!

Sam Suede: Undercover Exposure Revealed

In a press event held earlier today, a new PC-console title called Sam Suede: Undercover Exposure was officially revealed. This title marks the return of Leisure Suit Larry creator Al Lowe to the gaming industry after an absense of several years. Lowe is the co-founder of the new iBase Entertainment, a new Seattle based development studio that is working on the game for release in 2007. The press event showed some early gameplay footage which showed off lead character Sam Suede as he attends a mystery camp on a tropical island. The game aims to be an action comedy and the gameplay trailer reflected that with Sam giving a man a wedgie, dressing up as a French maid and moving underneath a table which has a number of swimsuit contestants. However it looks like this game is looking to go for a "T" rating rather than the "R" that the Larry games had. The graphics have a cartoony look but are in full 3D and look very promising. Lowe said that he was aiming to try something different than the norm and we will learn more about how he will do that with this game in the near future.

Great. Another guy turning his back on the adventure industry. How sad.

Hm. That "al lowe is back" trailer on the iBase website is a direct rip off of the trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up movie. It isn't even a parody of the trailer.

(And what is it with "iNames"? Don't with have enough of these? I know iDo.)

I'm happy for Al, and I'm happy for fans of the old Larry adventures. But I couldn't be more underwhelmed by the rip-off trailer or the screenshots or blurbs provided thus far.

And to say 'it's not an adventure' because there are no inventory puzzles is, well rather puzzling. When is Samarost day again?

Anyway, hopefully the game will be better than the last game to bear the Leisure Suit Larry moniker, and more awareness of the genre will be brought to old fans and new.

I'm excited - adventure or not, I think this game just looks/sounds like a fun play. *shrug*

Well he did say he is excited to try something differant. It is also action. Put the two together and you have to assume it isnt very adventurish.

Many of the greats used the medium to tell their stories, rather than fitting their stories into the medium. It's no surprise that many of them have gotten adventure-esque stories out of their systems and have now moved on to other things.

Not a "Seinfeld Movie" as in a movie of the TV show, it's a movie that's made of Jerry Seinfeld's comedy tour he did after the TV series ended (called "Jerry Seinfeld: Comedian")

The trailer for that movie was virtually IDENTICAL to this trailer that Al Lowe has.

Watch it here:

After seeing the "wedgie" screenshot, I'm not too worried about it being an action game...Knowing how he likes to satirize the gaming cliches, I'm sure that Al will tweak the action genre with his own brand of humor, lol.

I've just started listening, so I can't comment to quality, but Al Lowe is on this week's TWiT.
