Default Xbox 360 - there is life in Japan, after all...

Hopped into Bic Camera today. The 360 is being pushed pretty big over here, much bigger than I would've thought after reading a lot of the stuff about the Japanese ignoring it completely. There's a lot of displays, and people are nearly always hogging the DOA4 demo machines...

... even more suprising was Bic Camera's top 20. As well as the usual PS2 suspects (Dirge of Cerberus, anything RPG), lo and behold at their number 18 sat the Japanese Pro Wrestling 360 game. OK, it's not top 10, but top 20... not bad for a new console supposedly failing miserably! Bic Camera's a large outlet too, with stores nearly everywhere... hell, I missed out on a free purchase after I changed my mind about some earphones and a bell went off for the next 100th customer.

Get this - every 100th customer gets their item they're holding when they're queuing for free.

Whatta bitch for me, eh?

I questioned this myself.

Every time I queue I'm gonna hold a 40" LCD Widescreen HDTV and change my mind at the last minute.

Frankly, I never trust "top" lists, you never know if they are daily or weekly, or if the are true...

I've seen games that weren't even for sale in some charts, and I've games that there is NO way they should be on the list at all, BUT who know, this list might be telling the truth...

Here's the Top Teb from Game.es:
1) -GamePad GameWare (You gotta be kidding me, how can a game pad sell more than a game?)
2) -Nintendogs (I'm a Nintendo fanboy but I refuse to believe it's still selling this well!)
3) -Nintendogs AGAIN, but another breed
4) -Shadow the Hedgehog (What the Hell? Isn't this game game horrid?)
5) -GTA: San Andreas Platinum (It seems cheap games are all ways at the top of the charts)
6) -PES 5 PSP (Now this I believe)
7) -GTA: Liberty Stories (Another believable one)
8) -PES 5 PS2 (Yeah Spain loves soccer...)
9) -Eye Toy 3 + Camera (......)
10) -Need for Speed Most Wanted

You can see why I have trouble beliveing in lists...

Just cause games are bad or old doesnt mean they dont still sell well, I think Nintendogs will be up there for a while, and Shadow is probably selling well because its a sonic game and because its 'bad ass'

Huh? Given that a lot of games first need a pad to work (or to work properly) and that there is less variety in brands and types of the available gamepads than in all kinds of games, I don't see why it shouldn't.

Usualy the console comes with a game pad, and those dont count twards gamepad sales

I guess the game pads a selling well cause the Football games are selling well

Of course, that chart suggests that Nintendogs was selling over twice the number of copies that Shadow was.

I'm one of those gamers, too, but these are obviously not a PC exclusive charts.

Microsoft pay a lot for that shelf space, they also gave Japan a better deal on the Xbox 360 than Europe or the US got. The actual figures look very bad for the Xbox 360 in Japan.

Well, even so, people are starting to take an interest. Better than nothing.

Damn double standards.

According to the first figures, the 360 underperformed even the XBOX over there at launch. And Microsoft itself admitted that the sales are very slow.

Is there one person who actually thought it would do well in Japan? I mean, come on, even Bill Gates must have known it was going to bomb.
