Default Why do threads register as having unread posts when the last post is mine?

Title says it all really. I don't always have a lot of time to spend on the forums so I generally go to the main page for each section and see if anything new has been posted on threads I'm watching. A few times I've thought someone's made a quick response to my post only to find the "new" post IS my post.

I'm guessing it has something to do with it being new since I looked at that main page (and hence would presumably be hard to recode) but I was wondering if there is any solution to this.

This started happening when Doug installed a VB update at some point and I agree that it's annoying, but I think I mentioned it to him or Marek at one point and they said it's just how it is.

Sometimes it has something to do with somebody voting on a poll (if the thread is a poll), but not posting anything.

What sort of dreanged person does something like that? Imagine voting on a poll and then not sharing your own detailed (and highly important) views on the subject.

Thanks for the confirm remixor. Figured it was something like that. Love the detailed explanation though. that's just how it is eh?

A weird bug is if you use Tabbrowser Extensions to save sessions, close your browser half-way through browsing the forums, then re-open it, the posts you already read are marked as new again. I always assumed whether you'd visited a post was marked server-side, not client-side.
