Default Bad Brain interview

Kierdorf seems like a nice guy. If only the industry would have more CEOs like him. *sigh*

Heh, that cracked me up.

They are not only modest people, but also good at teasing people.

Website slightly influenced by Psychonauts?
Anyway, nice interview. I'm mostly interested in 'A Vampyre Story', but 'i-jet' looks promising as well.
I'm not exactly holding my breath for Sam & Max 2 ...yet.

NICE GUY????? The guy sounds AMAZING?!??!?! Three companies?? Totally cool adventures? A real sense of humor? Bringing back Sam and Max, even though I don't know who they are? Getting the financing for A Vampyre Story, which may be seriously moving up my list of want-to-plays?

I'm glad he mentioned to Marek that he had a wife and a cat. Otherwise I'd probably be internet stalking him write now and writing him fanmail.

Good job with the article, Marek--what a cool "get", as they say on TV.

Yes, a great interview.

Thanks to Marek, and especially thanks to Mr. Kierdorf for an awesome interview.

Seems to me that Bad Brain might become a big fan favourite in the near future.

Thanks, guys. What Wolfgang says is very interesting and promising, though let's not overreact on it either. Remember that this is an entirely new company, I-Jet is a debut game, and we don't yet know if they'll actually get the rights to Sam & Max 2.

Bad Brain is great news, but let's not set ourselves up for any giant dissapointments somewhere down the line.

Something that stands out to me is the amount of excitement and passion he has about what he's doing. In a lot of companies today, the passion doesn't seem to be there or even if it is, the principals have to be really guarded about what they say. Kierdorf doesn't really seem afraid to say anything... and he seems really excited and ambitious. It's kind of refreshing.

the Bad Brain Interview was great, especially since A Vampyre Story is on the top of my most-wanted list......i am kind of disappointed that he said the release date is Q1-Q2 2006......don't know if i can stand the wait!

Yeah cool interview, it's great to see someone so passionate about the games and with alot of interesting ideas.

The only thing that worries me slightly is how on earth he can afford to do all the stuff he wants to. I'd imagine just bankrolling and publishing Vampyre will be expensive, let alone bankrolling and publishing 4 games! Fingers crossed it all works out.

He has 2 business consultancy / programming companies. These could be used to finance his games division.

Looks like the http://www.bad-brain.com site will open tomorrow. Teaser images at the splash page.

Maybe I'm weird, but I-Jet is probably the most interesting concept I've heard for years!

Indeed what a enthusiastic CEO, one that has actually played and loves adventure games and isn't afriad to show it! I'm very much looking forward to AVS, but this I-jet sounds extremely promising as well, the concept of co-op puzzles and whatnot could be the key to succesfully getting the genre online (aside from RealMyst or something, which I've never played). And there's also The Orgastic Four:
Quote:
But there is yet another adventure coming our way. It's called The Orgastic Four. It´s scheduled after I-Jet and will be a mix of The A-Team, a 70's porn movie and The Godfather. It will be a South Park-ish, comic-style hyperactive point & click adventure.
Sounds.. err, promising?

Oh, forget it. It has potential.

I guess we'll find out soon enough when their site goes live, but is Bad-Brain a development studio as well as a publisher / investor?

Are I-Jet and Orgastic Four internal Bad-Brain projects?

This is all extremely promising, with or without Sam & Max 2. The cynic in me feels the whole "buying Sam & Max 2 from LucasArts" thing could be a publicity stunt to get some exposure for Bad-Brain. Let's face it if the deal falls over (and they're saying an awful lot for someone who's signed an NDA) then it won't be hard to make it all look like LucasArts fault.

But good on Bad-Brain for getting the buzz for their company and projects kick-started in this way!

Yeah I know, I was just confused about the way there could be a South Parkian influence in the game, in terms of graphics-style or absurd humor? You've got to admit it's hard to imagine a game that is apparently best described as a mixture of the A-Team, The Godfather and South Park

I think i-Jet sounds the best of all this! The multiplayer puzzles would be fun from the sounds of it!

Although I do believe they're honestly trying to get Sam & Max 2, this is something I'm worried about as well. I'm not going to jump the gun and proclaim them the second coming of Christ just yet

I-Jet for instance sounds like some kind of dream game on paper, but the tricky part of game design is not writing ideas, but it's actually making them work. It's highly ambitious for a debut title, so I'm going to edge on the side of caution. I think it would be wrong to immediately flood the upper ranks of the Hype-O-Meter with Bad Brain games -- let's see what they have to back up the big talk.

This is not to mean any disrespect to Bad Brain. I think they're unbelievingly cool. They could in fact be exactly what the genre needs, and they have my full support.

If ambition and enthusiasm counted for anything, Bad Brain would rule the genre!

But like Marek said, big dreams are just the start, so let's not become the Orgastic Forum just yet.
