Thread subscription

Is it possible to subscribe to a thread (Instant Email notification), without having posted in it please?

Reason - There are some threads that I have had no reason to post in yet, but enjoy reading.

Top right hand corner of each page of a thread there are two buttons. "Thread Tools" and "Search this Thread" There is an option to subscribe to an individual thread under Thread Tools.
