I don't like mice in my apples, or buttons for that matter. Both hurt my teeth.

Mighty Mouse... yeah, I can picture the slogan already: "Here I come to save the day!"
And $50 for a corded mouse?... ouch.

Argh! I *HATE* Mighty Mouse. If I hear him saying "Ja, ja, ja hier komm ich, und rette dich!" one more time, I am going to hurt someone. -

I will probably eventually buy one of these.
The Mac OS itself and most apps written for it are plenty easy to use with a one button mouse. I prefer a multi-button mouse though, due to using things like Photoshop all the time. I'm sort of sad to see apple shifting to multiple button mice though, if only because it means that people writing apps for the Mac have one less thing they have to be clever about when it comes to structuring their program's interfaces, and can instead be lazy and just delegate tasks to buttons two through four on the mouse (which effectively hides features of your program from everyone who isn't a curious power user, or an instruction manual junkie).

I love my PC's endless versatility. The day I buy a mac is the day I buy an... uh... laptop. Because, lets face it, as laptops go they're infinitely better than a PC. Desktops PC's all the way. And Creative MP3 players.

I'm happy that people who complain about the one-button mouse will be getting their wish, but, as a long-time Mac user, it really doesn't make any difference to me. I rarely, if ever, need to use a second button on the mouse, so I won't bother going out of my way to get one. And if you were really cut up about it before, you could have still bought a 10 button mouse that would have worked with your Mac. In the grand scheme of things, though, it's probably a wise move.
As for the ol' Mac vs. PC debate, well it's simple: if you want to play all the new computer games, get a PC; if you want to be creative, get a Mac. |

I don't get what the big deal is about, since the mx510 logitech mice have been perfection, and they have been compatible with Macs for a long time. Everyone who gets this mouse, has to at some point question there blind following of one company, the same people who were saying that their OS was perfect, they only needed one button on mice, Macs were powerful enough with PowerPC CPUs. Apart from the last thing you said, I agree with you, that's a sensible analysis. |

I'd have been happier if they went with less buttons in favour of an inbuilt rechargeable battery and plug in usb dock charger to sit the thing in between use.
The default one button, bluetooth, camera mouse that comes with their machines of late lasts a week tops on 2 double A batteries after only regular use. |

I happen to work way faster on a Mac than a PC because I think the way the operating system works - the way Apple looks at user interface design (and by extension, the way Apple leads their developers writing software for their OS to think about user interface design) - is far better thought out and streamlined than a PC. I don't want to use the term "creative people" because that's a huge sack of bull - for instance I think a really good programmer can be equally "creative" to a good illustrator - but a lot of people involved in various visual arts happen to agree with me in regards to that usability, and that's why they buy Macs. (Except the idiots who buy them because they like the case. Hopefully they buy it for the case and then stay for the quality operating system and functional interface, but who knows.) i dont think we disagree really btw Aj... i think i might have misread what you said. sorry! my second paragraph is not really related to your post anyway.
