Default Sting

Who likes Sting? I do. He's my guilty secret. One day I'll see him live.

Shouldn't this be posted in a different forum?

I don't particularly like him, my guitar teacher does though as he is a skillful player in the classical department. He is more famous for bass, but he is a skileld guitarist as well.

Yeah, Sting starred in Dune, which is awesome, he was in Police, which is cool, and I like his style.
But as far as his newer stuff goes I only know the official singles, which are not my cup of tea.

Who likes Sting? That's a rhetorical question isn't it?

God no. Sure, he did a few notable tunes with The Police, but as a solo artist he makes me sick.

The Police where awesome

I loved him as Feyd in Dune, such a top movie even if it did stray a little from the book. Heaps better than that shitty mini series.

Don't forget he helped dig Bart out of the well!

"Sssh Marge! Hes a good digger!"

@Omo - at least you're honest. Although I get the feeling you never listened to Nothing Like The Sun? Funnily enough I prefer Sting's solo stuff to The Police, save for The Police's greatest singles, naturally.

To my mind, he's done too many great songs since they dispanded to discredit, even on his weaker later albums -

Mad About You
All This Time
Fields Of Gold
Englishman In New York
They Dance Alone
If I Ever Lose My Faith In You
Sacred Love
A Thousand Years
Fragile
Brand New Day
Shape Of My Heart
Inside
Straight To My Heart
If You Love Somebody
Moon Over Bourbon Street

Sure I've missed some. There's always a few clunkers on the albums though.

Isn't it "you don't have to put on the red light"?

I've got to go with Omloflump on this one. The Police were great, but Sting is...well, Sting. Without Stewart Copeland around to get under his skin and shake him up a bit, Sting seems to do a little too much musical navel-gazing for my taste.

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light <---
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight <---
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Ah, the memories...
When Sting sang about suicide, dating a hooker, and lunar walkabouts.
Good times, mates.
