Songwise, I'd say Romeo + Juliet. It's pretty much solid throughout, with cool unreleased tracks from Radiohead and Butthole Surfers.

As for an actual score for a film, I love the Ravenous music, which was done partially by Damon Albarn of Blur.

I'm probably showing my age here, but I'd have to say the best movie soundtrack has to be either "The Breakfast Club" or "Pretty In Pink", closely followed by "Empire Records"

If you like Tex-Mex sounds, "From Dusk Til Dawn".
If not, "Kingpin".

The "From Dusk Til Dawn" soundtrack was pretty cool - I can't remember the "Kingpin" soundtrack....

I prefer films with soundtracks that accompany the mood of the film, usually with songs rather than instrumentals!

Although, the soundtrack to 2001:A Sspace Odyssey was pretty cool!!

My Mum was in her early twenties when The Exorcist was released - she had a coy of the Mike Oldfield album and I was subjected to it for a number of years

"Tubular Bells" freaks me out still.....

Dragon the Bruce Lee Story

You've all heard the theme, it's used in tons of trailers as well as during the Olympics. Most recently used in the Cinderella Man trailer.

John Carpenter's tracks, particularly for The Thing and Hallowe'en. He writes them himself, dontcha know. Fifth Element's pretty crazy, Lost In Translation's a great collection, Donnie Darko's got a great theme, Ghostbusters is awesome cheese, Spirited Away is beautiful, Mothman Prophecies is one of the best undiscovered albums of our time, Amelie has savoire faire... John Williams' compositions, the Alien movie themes... I actually think this is a pretty impossible question...

So, seriously then,

Amadeus
Leon (The Professional)

I also remember liking the soundtrack to Pi (mainly because it included Orbital's P.E.T.R.O.L).

(although, to my great shame, Kevin and Perry Go Large is the only soundtrack that I've ever actually purchased *cringe*)

Let me add one more.

Dragonheart

Incidentally, by the same person who composed Dragon the Bruce Lee Story's score.

The 1980s rule, as did the music in those days.

The Pi theme by Clint Mansell is my favourite on this soundtrack, as is the work he did on Requiem for a Dream.

Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" soundtrack - this is one cool soundtrack

Either my Mum or Dad had the original album, and I used to listen to it in bed at night

I only remembered this because I saw that it has been re-released on cd to coincide with the new movie.
I have looked everywhere for this but I can't find it anywhere - looks like I'll have to buy the cd version

I like a lot of John Williams's stuff such as Schindler's List, ET, and of course, Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

Other favorites include music from M. Night Shyamalan's movies - Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village.

Lord of the Rings.

Dragonheart, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind and a few others that don't immediately come to mind.

This is all just the instrumental stuff. Song-wise, there are many more movies' music that I enjoy. In just a short note, though, I'd like to say that I enjoy the soundtrack songs from such Disney movies as Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Tarzan.
