CD-RW drive won't work
I don't know what's happening now but my CD-RW drive just won't copy CD-R discs anymore. I use Windows Media Player, it worked fine before. After it's done converting the files, this message comes up -
Quote:
I've tried a different brand of CD-R No programs are running And selected a slower recording speed. Another CD-R looks like ending up in the bin. |

Have you tried it using something other than Windows Media Player?

I would try Nero but the file size is too big and my ISP automatically disconnects every 2 hours and Mozilla doesn't seem to resume files. |

How old is your cd drive? It's possible that some other thing has rendered it dysfunctional. Both my cd-writer drive and my DVD drive both died on me, and I never abused them (I wouldn't know how). It's my suspicion that copy protection thingies may have been the cause. I played Broken Sword 3 and some other games that had Starforce included. I dunno, but I've read some nasty things about the possible side effects of copy protection. After a while I wasn't ever able to use either drives, they wouldn't even read my cds or DVDs. I had to replace the cd-writer drive with an old basic cd drive just to be able to install and play Prince of Persia: SOT.

Computer's about a year old, I don't know why the CD-RW drive won't copy CD-R's. It plays audio and sofware discs.

What are you trying to copy? It may just have copy protection in it.

Sigh
I changed the writing speed to 10x in the CD-RW drive's Recording tab. It worked but the CD-RW sound is messed up on my stereo. Now it won't work at all. I posted the same message on Microsoft's message board but you get a few replies for each thread. Any other message boards that can help me out? |
