Default The Polar Express Trailer

Holy freakin' wow.

I just saw The Polar Express trailer, and without a doubt, this is probably the best animation I've seen in a movie. All the actors were filmed (By Robert Zemeckis, who probably can't make a bad movie) and were converted into CGI. It looks pretty amazing, and this will probably be a movie to look out for next November.

I can't help myself from feeling a fair degree of trepidation, but we'll see...

Man, it's been years since I read this book.

Hmmm, reminiscent in graphics quality of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. This looks to be a good magical one for us.....oh yeah yeah, and for the little brats, too .

Wow... that's some incredible animation. I really like the fact that they actually filmed the actors before doing the animation. It adds a new depth and realism of motion to the animation, and it means the actors are more involved in the role than the voice, which is cool.

It's based on a children's book by Chris Van Allsburg, who's probably most well-known for writing Jumanji (the book, not the screenplay). It was actually one of my favorite christmas stories when I was a kid

From some random website somewhere:
Quote:
A young boy and his sister learn from their friends that there is no Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, however, the boy hears a distant whistle and sees a locomotive pull into his front yard. He boards it and is on a journey northward; the destination is the North Pole.

After he and the other children disembark, they learn that it is nearly time for Santa to begin his annual Christmas Eve journey. However, he will select one of them to receive the first gift of Christmas, which can be anything that they wish. The young boy is selected, and, after much thought, he chooses a bell from the harness of Santa's reindeer.

When he begins his trip to his home, the boy discovers that he had a hole in his pocket, and he lost the bell. The next morning, though, he receives an extra present: the bell with a note from Santa. His parents are disappointed because they do not hear the sweet jingle from it, and they think that it is broken. However, the boy and his sister DO hear the clear, sweet sound because of their faith.

Many years later, the sister could no longer hear the jingle, but the boy always could. He always believed in the spirit of Christmas.
It'll be interesting to see how they adapt that to a feature length movie, since the story is pretty simple.

I magine sex scenes between Mr and Mrs Santa, a torrid divorce and sex scandal and oh this wierd green monster will spoil christmas. Lets call him... the Finch. There you go, one family christmas spectacular, Hollywood Style.

That movie may end up being a good movie.

I don't know the book it's based on, but I can tell you this that I have a serious problem with Tom Hanks.

Nowadays he seems to be everywhere, come on his like an all around the clock Tom "here I am, give me my paycheck and I'll be in your movie."

Is he really that young boys voice in this movie or just the conductor?

Or is he every voice in this movie perhaps? Now THAT would be a personal nightmare for me...

Dude, it's worse than that. In fact, every character in the movie was rendered based on his likeness. The kid was constructed from Hanks' childhood photos. He is currently threatening to walk out on the movie if they don't change the "North Pole" to "Hanksville" and "Santa Claus" to "Hanksa Claus." Beware.

Well it sure looks impressing from a technical point of view. Don't know about the story though. Never read or even heard about the book.

Nice to see someone else shares me dislike of Tom Hanks. I actually got told off by my friends for saying he was crap, they love him that much.
