Woah!

That's a pretty comprehensive list you've posted there!
It's pretty much identical to what I would have posted - out of that list I think I would have to outline Pearl Jam and The Smashing Pumpkins as the best bands of all time, closely followed by Nine Inch Nails, RHCP and Faith No More (who I don't think you've included in this list) - I ask the question - why?!?

Well, I've never really gotten into RHCP and Faith No More..I dunno, I don't really like funk-rock or whatever genre the bands are. But I do like a few RHCP songs. Even though I can remember only one title of their song - Scar Tissue?

Scar Tissue yes - its an ok song, but to appreciate RHCP then you really need to listen to "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" - I think its their 4th album but imo probably the best album ever released.

Judging by some of your bands, I really think you should give Faith No More a go also.

You really think so? Let's see:

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
The seasons don't fear the Reaper
Nor do the wind and the sun and the rain
(We can be like they are)
Come on Mary
(Don't fear the Reaper)
Baby take my hand
(Don't fear the Reaper)
We'll be able to fly
(Don't fear the Reaper)
Baby I'm your man

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity
(Romeo and Juliet)
Forty thousand men and women every day
(like Romeo and Juliet)
Forty thousand men and women every day
(Really find happiness)
Another forty thousand coming every day
(We can be like they are)
Come on baby
(Don't fear the Reaper)
Baby take my hand
(Don't fear the Reaper)
We'll be able to fly
(Don't fear the Reaper)
Baby I'm your man

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came a last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
And the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then He appeared
(Saying "Don't be afraid")
Come on Mary
(And she had no fear)
And she ran to him
(And they started to fly)
They looked backward and said goodbye
(She had become like they are)
She had taken his hand
(She had become like they are)
Come on Baby
(Don't Fear the Reaper)

Nah, I'd say it has just the right amount of cowbell as it is. The owd (sp?) makes a nice counterpoint, though.
I wonder how many of the whipper-snappers here have even heard this song?

I have, aswell as the above mentioned cover. Regrettably, I can't stand the original by Blue Oyster Cult at all. But then, I'm also in the group of people who fell asleep during Pulp Fiction, some things just seem to bore me rather than entertain me. I don't think it's an inherit flaw of whatever I'm watching/hearing. Just not my style I guess?

I was going to so hit on you Scottie as the designated Trep alternate but I don't think I will now. You've managed to put ABBA and Jimi Hendrix on the same list! That's like worshipping two gods. It's just not done.

Wow...It looks like I really threw a rock at a hornet's nest!

Okay, in order:

Ninth- Why, thank you! I'll have to tell my Dad what you said, as "Easyrider" is one of his favorite movies. He was a biker during the time when that movie came out, back when arriving on a Harley meant you stood a good chance of being refused service at any decent restaurant or business, and he has little tolerance for the orthodontists and lawyers who style themselves as "Bikers" today. I'm very flattered by your comparison.

Pinkgothic- No need to apologize; If it's not your style, then it's not your style. I fall asleep every time I try to watch "Moonstruck", which is a gay faux pas of the highest order and has caused some people to suggest I'm actually straight, but I refuse to apologize for not being a walking stereotype. I will try to find the Apollo 440 version and give it a listen, upon your recommendation.

Gillyruless- What can I say? I'm all over the map in most of my tastes, and my taste in music is no exception. In all fairness, both Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson were successful musicians in their own right long before they ever joined together to form ABBA, and ABBA's wild popularity and resulting over-exposure is something that that band's music is only now beginning to recover from.
Also, the Jimi Hendrix we're all familiar with was just the final incarnation of a musician with a long, checkered, and mostly unsuccessful career, including stints as both the leader of Jimmy James And The Flames and the guitarist for Little Richard's backup band.
Depending on the day of the week, the time of day, and the day's events, I might be in the mood for ABBA, Jimi Hendrix, Maria Callas, or any number of other styles of music. I suppose that makes me a complex individual, but I'd be the last person to say so...Oops- I think I just did!

Kolzig- "Fire Of Unknown Origin" is pretty good too, as is "Cultasaurus Erectus" with it's groovy Roy Dean cover art. I giggle every time I hear "Joan Crawford" or "Godzilla", but I have a twisted sense of humor.

Strangely, Birth of the Cool sits permanently next to my computer. Along with some choral music by Gerald Finzi, of all things. I'm afraid I'm not really up to date with the whole modern music thing.
