Wonrmsie, how come you haven't posted to this thread yet? Judging from the posts on the thread so far, it looks like you might be one of the few AGers whose music taste I have any respect for.

Gillyruless- While Kiri Te Kanawa's performances are very nearly technically perfect, I find Maria Callas's to have a bit more verve and emotion. With Kiri on stage, I never forget she's playing a part, but when Maria takes the spotlight it's as if she's really living the role. This is only my opinion, and I'm sure others will disagree. I've yet to experience one of Cecilia Bartoli's performances, but I've heard she makes a good compromise between the aforementioned other two luminaries. ScottMate

Where/when exactly is the frontier between classic and non-classic rock? Unless of course you're using "classic" as another way of saying "good".

In the USA, classic rock is generally considered the 1970s. Rock of the 1950s and 60s is labeled oldies, and 90s and up is modern rock. 1980s are just known as 80s music or pure garbage by some(I like 80s New Wave, though).

Rock = Switchfoot Classic Punk Rock = The Romones Punk Rock = Green Day Pretty much, "classics" have a double meaning. The second meaning "good" Last edited by SamNMax; 05-26-2005 at 01:57 PM. |

I've only just looked at your profile - I really thought you were a lot younger than **yrs. I was going to make some comment about whipper-snappers/ankle-biters, but it would have been pretty pointless considering you're actually older than me! I love the original "The Blue Oyster Cult" version of this song. By the way, Pinksie - I never even knew that Apollo 440 covered this, but it sounds very exciting, and from this day I will not stop until I find a copy of this song! |

Manhunter71- Oh yeah, geezer-dom is encroaching, but I'm fighting it every inch of the way, and I wear my distinct lack of maturity like a badge of honor.

I mean, obviously there was crappy punk rock and crappy rock 20 years ago as there is now, it's just that it didn't manage to survive the years, and neither will today's crappy rock and punk rock bands.

I'm with you! I feel maturity approaching, but every time it comes close I kick it in the teeth and then stomp up and down on it whilst telling myself that I'm really a child at heart |
