And what's up with that water fountain in Anakin and Amidala's place? Is it just me or did it end up unusually loud in the final mix? At times I had trouble hearing what they were saying because of it.

I like Ebert's description of Sam (Natalie Portman) in his review as "a local girl who is one of those creatures you sometimes find in the movies, a girl who is completely available, absolutely desirable and really likes you." HOT.

Man, I don't care if the characters are believable, it's all about the mood of the film, and the fantasies of a young adult. That's mostly what I see the movie as, a fantasy. So I don't mind that the characters are stereotypes. Besides, name me a character in a movie who is not a stereotype of some type. Prove to me that YOU aren't a stereotype of some sort. We're all unbelievable in some way if we look at our lives.

Is this confirmed that they shot these scenes, or just speculation?
I know for a fact that Mon Mothma was in the film and was most likely cut; the end credits show the actress's name playing the character.

That's right. The Star Wars database actually says that she's in the movie and includes her picture. The cut must have been made at the last minute.

That also happened where I saw it. His face looked comical with the way he spoke.

In the tale that Palpatine told Anakin about that one Sith lord, was Palpatine the student that killed him?

There are speculations that Anakin was even given life by that sith lord (what was his name again? Darth Good-Guy?). Would make sense in the explanation of how he was conceived.

Also of interest, Governer Tarkin, who makes a distant appearance at the end of the movie, is played by Wayne Pygram, whom we know as bad guy Scorpius in Farscape. Scifi crossover! Nice.

Hmm, not Hugh Jackman this time then?
I must admit I was rather looking forward to the thought of seeing the young Tarkin prancing about in his big coat and hat and slaughtering Jedi with his spinning blade type weapon thingies.

That's one of the great things about Palpatine, you never know if he's telling the truth.

Darth Good-Guy? You mean Darth Plagueis, Palpatines' master? Probably.

I've finally seen it today. I have mixed feelings about it. It's definitely sad. Sometimes it's dumb, too. But also, it had some impressive *gasp* moments. Which ones, I forget. Ok, actually, I'd say I really liked the hopeful ending.

Curt, don't give up on Garden State. If you really haven't watched it to the end, try. While I enjoyed it from the start, my girlfriend didn't care much for it during the beginning, but then thought the film really gained momentum about halfway through. The mood also changes, as the hero stops observing others and starts a slightly surreal self-discovery journey.

Now, to the subject of this thread: Episode 3. I loved it. Not in the "The film that changed my life" sort of way, and lowered expectations after the previous two had some impact, too, I guess. But it is incredible. I still think World would be a better place if Lucas decided against making the prequels at all, but since we can't change that, it's a relief they ended on such a high note. I know it will sound paranoid, but one could believe that Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones disappointed on purpose. Because the dark and grisly tone of Revenge of the Sith would be out of place in the original trilogy - and by now all fans had clearly got the message: this is different film.

Paradoxically for an instalment where every major plot twist I knew in advance, I was deeply moved by Revenge of the Sith. The long awaited Anakin vs. Obi-Wan duel, but also the troopers performing the directive 66, almost brought tears to my eyes. I know some who perceive this series as a simple fairy-tale may find this odd. I'm not ashamed of it, though.

And while even with my non-geekish eye I could see apparent inconsistecies with the original trilogy after watching TPM, I believe that things were wrapped up rather nicely in the script, whether it was because of fans' feedback on mistakes or Lucas always planned it to be exactly this way.

I loved Lucas harping on for years that Obi-Wan's reappearence in the originals was going to be dealt with in the new trilogy, only to have a "heeeeee's BACK!" line tagged on at the end of the film, riiiight at the very end, as if he'd forgotten all about it and remembered at the end of the script.
