I can't imagine somebody that never ate fries...
USA -> Georgia -> Warner Robins -> Burger King (don't remember the street name, well okay, never knew it in the first place) I HATE Belgian French Fries. They're too big and fat and.. stuff. Why do you even call them FRENCH fries? FRENCH fries are suppose to be very thin y'know. I also hate Belgian chocolate BTW... |

What do you put on them in the Netherlands? Nothing beats the real thing. What about the Belgian beer? aha (but that's another question)

Mayonaise, just like u do. Well we also have "Fries Sauce", but that's just mayonaise with less fat (well that's how it tastes anyway). The American people around here probably think we're sick. When I put mayonaise on my fries when visiting my family in the USA they looked at me as if I was some psychopath.
I've never drinked Belgian beer, but I'll probably hate that too. Nothing beats Heineken. I've also never drinked that, though... But still. 8-) |

The "french" in french fries actually has nothing to do with the nationality (hence it's correct to use the lower case f for french). It has to do with the way the potatoes are cut. To french is to cut in thin, long strips.
BTW, I read somewhere that in Belgium, french fries are traditionally prepared in horse fat, which is hard to believe. Is there any truth to that? |

Mayonnaise is just wrong
The only exception ot that is that curry powder mayonnaise is really good with sweet potato fries |

The thing about the horse fat is true. I don't know if they still do it, but it sounds very disgusting. |

I eat fries with ketchup, the way God intended. And here in the US, we often call those big huge fries, "steak fries". I guess because they're usually served at steakhouse restaurants. Personally, I'm not crazy about them. The ratio of potato to fried surface area is too large.

Barney's hamburgers in San Francisco (and around the Bay Area) have YUMMY spicy curly fries. We went there last weekend. They serve them with ranch dressing. Mmm... I'm hungry now. I saw Supersize Me a few weeks ago. They do a really gross experiment with McDonalds fries. The guy puts a "real" hamburger and fries (from a non-fast food restaurant) as well as McDonalds fries and like 6 different McDonalds sandwiches under glass to observe how they decompose. The first week the real fries and hamburger are all nappy but all the McDonalds stuff still looks pretty good. The McDonalds sandwiches start decomposing at varying rates but the gross part is the fries... 8 weeks later, not a speck of mold. The things don't break down. Ugh. *shivers* -emily |

One time, when I was running around Tronto being disappointed, my friend who I never really liked went into a McDonalds which I hate, and ordered something on their menu that made me want to vomit on the other tourists. It was a bowl of french fries, covered in gravy and cheese.
Anyway, i've eaten fries before, but it's been a long time since i've last had one. They're just so damn bad for you. Oh yeah, I gave up soda to. One of the best decisions i've ever made. |

I get them from a caribbean restaurant near my parents' house when I'm up there. They rule. They're not really so much a burger side-dish though as an entree side. Also, to whoever mentioned mcdonald's fries, I'm not sure it's appropriate to refer to what mcdonald's uses as "beef" |
