Default Are you afraid of shopping?

I am afraid of shopping. Just a few minutes ago I finally managed to order the Lucas Arts Entertainment pack I've been thinking about buying for months now. I'm still sweating from the horrible experience...

Usually when I go to a story to buy a book or something, I browse the shelves for an hour (read half of the books there...) and then eventually leave the store thinking "You don't really need any of that stuff, it's just a waste of money." Or if you do buy something, the wide round eyes of the sales clerck approach you and...

*shivers*

Am I the only one?

You should be glad you're afraid of shopping. You save more money that way.

I'm only afraid of shopping things I actually need, like clothes.

I actually love shopping...! @_@ Although sometimes I get disgusted when I yet again have to draw out that wallet and pay for sometimes. I really get sickened by economy at those times.

Afraid of shopping? Deffinately not. Right now I'm almost totally broke and I'm waiting for my money to drop in (the swedish central study institution isn't exactly fast at paying up ).

I hate shopping. Even online. Which is ironic, considering I used to love shopping years ago when I was making good money working in the fashion industry. I used to buy my clothes only at such places as Barneys New York, Jil Sander, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Prada. And I was much more susceptible to impulse shopping. However, I habitually had bought pricey gifts for my friends and my little nieces and nephews, always made me feel good to do that. One of my best friends was moving to San Francisco and I was terribly sad. As a going away gift and token of our friendship I went to Tiffany's and got him a sterling silver keychain for a couple hundred bucks, he deserved it. But I had never thought of getting anything for myself from Tiffany's, I'd only get for friends.

Today I am poor. My mindset has shifted drastically, and now I can't stand the idea of even needing to shop for new clothes, even though my current ones need replacing. Yesterday I ordered a wool turtleneck from L.L. Bean. I didn't want to, but I desperately needed a new sweater. I hate shopping.

That paying thing can be a real pain.

I am not afraid, but sales clerks always irritate me. I hate being bugged while I am looking at stuff. I don't love to shop either except at book stores. If I need clothes and find something I like - then I buy several of them while I am there or buy more of the same persons line. That way it is that much longer before I have to go back and buy clothes and such.

I generally dislike shopping. I enjoy looking at books, movies, and games but clothing is torture.

In general: no! But it depends. If I go shopping, I visit the CD/DVD sections of various shops, have a look at the books, the PC's, other electronics, etc.
And I need some clothes every once in a while, so I sometimes visit those shops too... But I went shopping with a girl once and got sick of that. Some girls (not all luckily) have the urge to fit every single shoe or clothing in all the shops in town... And that's scary!

I went shopping today and spent way too much money on stuff i dont really need but i bought the new kirby game so it wasnt all bad!!

I love shopping! I rarely get the chance to go thanks to work eating up my life :'( I dont have a car yet either and have to rely on trains *cries* today there was supposed to be no engineering works - the radio and the internet said there were no problems... my train going out was fine, when i wanted to come home the whole line in the direction i wanted to go had been shut off since the day before *grr*

I always get really stressed if shopping alone though, its not much fun and horrible seeing all the other groups of people, makes you feel a right sad loser.

Well I have to add that 95% of everything I buy (except for food and such) is records, movies, games or books. I like buying that. But I HATE buying clothes. So I totally agree with you there.

I'm usually a very good shopper, which means I would piss off the retailers. What I mean is that I always know exactly what I want and immediately go the store that most likely has it, and I never waste my time looking at everything. I also make sure to call them beforehand so that I don't waste my time getting there and finding out they don't have it. I'm no longer an impulsive shopper, primarily because I'm poor. If the store doesn't have what I'm looking for I simply leave and go elsewhere.

Many other shoppers get desperate, though, and feel unfulfilled unless they buy something, anything to 'replace' what they didn't find - stupid. It's these kinds of shoppers that the retailers love because they can be easily manipulated. A case in point is computer games. If I go to BestBuy and discover that Broken Sword 3 is still not in stock there, I don't freak out because I absolutely have to have it now now now. Nor do I feel I have to grab any other game they have just to fill that void of disappointment. Why should I? I could simply wait a couple more days and come back when the game is in stock.
