Van Halen remains one of the most important and influential bands of all time. Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, the band quickly won a loyal hometown fan base with their electrifying live shows. From the moment they released their self-titled 1978 debut album, Van Halen shook the foundations of rock, thanks largely to Roth's peerless showmanship, Eddie Van Halen's revolutionary guitar virtuosity and their songwriting abilities. It changed rock music forever.

The band's first album proved one of the biggest selling rock debuts, with key tracks like "Eruption," "Running with the Devil," "Jamie's Cryin'," "You Really Got Me" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" leading the way. VAN HALEN featuring David Lee Roth are planning a new studio album.

Roth has recorded a few songs for the greatest hits album in the 90s but has not recorded an album with the band since 1984's '1984'.

Roth and Van Halen announced the plans at the press conference for their forthcoming tour earlier this week.

Although they talked about a new record, no-one was prepared to estimate a release.

Van Halen will tour North America from September.

Roth made some interesting comments on the band. "This is not like The Police. The idea is that this will go on and on and on. This is like a brotherhood like it never was before," he said.

The current line-up featured Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang on bass, in place of discarded founding member Michael Anthony.

Oh yes, Van Halen truly has returned.

Too bad that that Michael Anthony is no longer a member of the band because EVH has too many personal problems with his old friends.

I can't believe the crap they did at first on the official webpage, they altered the original album cover images in a true George Lucas way, deleting Michael Anthony from them and putting Wolfgang Van Halen on them.

Before the hell really broke loose, they came to their senses and put the original album covers back to the webpage.
