Latest Books Bought
Identical to the 'DVD's You've Just Bought' thread, but this time books.
 I found this a week or two ago at the charity shop I work at:  It was brand new; never used. A bargain at only £2! I should watch the movie again at some point. I haven't seen it for awhile. A volunteer at work lent me the second part of the Millenium trilogy:  And then I have part 1 & 2 of the third story arc to the Higurashi When They Cry manga series:   What about you guys?

When he was borne Paul "Pepper" Roux's aunt predicted he would die before he became 14 (Saint Constance told her in a dream) On the day of his fourteenth birthday he runs away in an attempt to avoid his fate, hiding himself in a variety of different lives on the way. (ship's captain, telegram boy and journalist to name but a few) A wonderfully lively book with a vibrant cast of characters and a good ending.

Which I'm reading at the moment. The book is divided into 5 parts that each tell a different story but relate back to the main story which is set in the city of Santa Teresa in the north of Mexico. I'm almost half way through. I also purchased Ulysses by James Joyce. Which I have wanted to read for ages. Has anyone read this? What do you think about it? |

 Couldn't resist Terry Pratchett + Discworld + football  I was also going to buy  Which I've been thinking of buying for a while, but decided to read some reviews to get a better grip of what the book is really like. |

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, which I just finished reading, is a masterful combination of history and suspense, and I recommend it highly.
I also recently bought U Is for Undertow by Sue Grafton, Hardball by Sara Paretsky, This Body of Death by Elizabeth George, and Elizabeth Peters' latest Amelia Peabody mystery, A River in the Sky, which I'm reading now.

On a whim the other night I bought a Metal Gear Solid novel lol.
 I also bought the Lord of the Rings books as I've recently finished The Hobbit. Oh yeah and I bought Angela's Ashes again as I'd lost my copy. |

Manga, manga and more manga!
From the dealers' room at the Anime North convention the previous weekend (mostly to complete some series): One Piece v. 17-28 Shaman King v. 1-12 O-Parts Hunter (a.k.a 666 Satan) v. 18 20th Century Boys v. 4 Sand Land Fushigi Yugi v. 14 Last week, from the comic store: One Piece v. 49-53 Naruto v. 48 Bleach v. 31 Inuyasha v. 48 20th Century Boys v. 8 Hôshin Engi v. 19 Unfortunately, I collect manga volumes faster than I can read them, so I have like, over 200 unread volumes on my shelf!
