Isn't it just. I am told a literal translation of the Swedish title would come out roughly as "The History of Wondrous Love" so I'm not quite sure what is going on there.

The Threadâ„¢ will die.

It slightly depresses me that the only books I've bought recently have been medical textbooks.

Not purchased by me as such but kindly purchased for me as a recommendation by a British member of these very forums. Terry Pratchett if pretty much unknown in Sweden and I'm looking forward to getting into his Discworld.

I'm on holiday this week, and so far have managed to find some time to buy some more books, some new, some used.
In the used category, I bought Tad Williams Otherland paperbacks and War of the Flowers. I have read them, but they were borrowed. Now I have my own copies. I also found a mint hard cover of The Dig. Chapters had a 20% off sale, so I took the opportunity to splurge. I bought: Dragon Haven by Robin Hobb The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff The Gods of Amyrantha ( Haven't read The Immortal Prince yet) The Folding Knife by K. J. Parker - one of my favorite authors now. Magicians by Lev Grossman Sea Glass by Maria Snyder Elfland By Freda warrington - reading it now.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy box set A bit disappointed the books in this set don't have nifty front covers, but it was only a tenner on amazon and I couldn't pass it up. Only seen an episode or two of the series and found the main character likeable, but I'll check out a few volumes of the manga first before buying the anime.

Another Haruhi Suzumiya book:
Only this one is the original hardback novel, which is supposed to be better than the manga.

Part three of the Millenium trilogy - lent to me by the same friend at work who lent me The Girl Who Played with Fire. I thought that book was big, but this looks to be even bigger. In a way, I kinda enjoyed part two slightly more than the first one. I'll have to see how this one pans out.

Two books came in the post today. I'm so excited.
I know. You're all amazed at the wild and crazy avant-garde stuff I read aren't you. Free from another forums I'm on as long as I post a short review after reading them. I'll be sure to post it back here so you can all decide if you want to get your own copies.

How's Batwoman storywise and all? I know Williams' art is beautiful but she was quite uninteresting in 52.
for some reason i felt drawn to it... (its quite good actually, funny as hell) cause Ellison rocks |

The Batwoman story is great. I havn't read 52 so not sure how it compares, but it has a decent villian and her connection to Batwoman is cool. The art is superb and changes style for the flashback issues and it hasa Batman Year One vibe for a few issues as it retells her origin story. Highly recommended. I bought the Powergirl trade when it came out and it is flat out the funniest thing DC have done in a while. Amanda Conners art is beautiful and full of little jokes in the background and the script is witty and a lot of fun. It's a shame they both left the book after issue 12 and the new team are not as good.
