Gosh, if only someone had mentioned both of those earlier Andrea, and the Sam Neill connection as well. Oh, hang on.

By a complete coincidence those are both films that star Sam Neill. Anyone know if he's done any other good horror films?
Glad you found Event Horizon "a good watch" Legend (at least i'm presuming that means you enjoyed it. ) I'll have a trawl through my DVD collection at some point and see if I can throw out some more ideas.

Now everybody should know that ITMOM is a "must see" since it has already been recommended by both stepurhan, me and Andrea in this thread.

Ha ha ha.

Anybody else who is looking forward to Carpenters new movie L.A. Gothic? It's written by the same people who wrote Giallo (Argentos latest).

Although not really a horror film (more of a thriller imo), how about Rosemary's Baby?

I don't recall the original Omen film being mentioned either.

Yeah I mentioned Rosemary's Baby earlier as well as a few other older horrors. Had you seen all those films Legend?

There was a real sense of dread and unease throughout that film that made it compulsive watching.

Henke: The only film I've seen by Argento was Trauma and I thought it was pretty shit, what are his others like? I can only assume they're a lot better!

Yes Sir, I have !

If any of you are into Sci-fi Horror then I'd recommend checking out The Cube series.. its a low-budget Canadian movie BUT ... this movie (and its sequels were pretty amazing). Everyone should give this movie a try.

I enjoyed The Cube (and forgot about it too ). I didn't like the aggressive dudes acting though. The rest of the characters I found believable enough but he just seemed so overacted that it made me wince a little when I last saw it. I still love the idea and the tension though.

There were sequels!?! May well have to check them out because the ending left me wanting more.

What movies have made you shit your pants then Legend?

Ahh right, I was wondering if that was the reason I'd never heard of them...

Geggs, the evil-dead (1st part) did lol. But I was only 13 that time and we (mom, dad and I ) saw the movie in our basement with no lights in the middle of the winter !

Hahah, noo films that have scared you recently as an adult. Goonies scared me when I was young but that isn't going to make the list!

His best giallo (a type of detective story) is definitely Profondo Rosso (Deep Red).

And if you're looking for a supernatural horror, Argento's best is Suspiria.

I'd also like to recommend Phenomena with a young and already talented Jennifer Connelly.

Cheers for that. Me and my girlfriend are on Lovefilm so we can pretty much watch anything, not to mention we both love horror.

I love that movie although that's from the period when Argento started making some pretty weird stuff. Phenomena isn't that odd in the beginning, a girl who can communicate with insects is perfectly normal compared to what happens at the end of the movie.

Spoiler:
The murderer is a deformed midget with a retractable blade and his mother gets slashed by a trained monkey with a razor.

I like Phenomena but I think Opera is better (and that one is fairly weird too). The scene with the keyhole is one of the best murderscenes he has ever done IMO.

Not to mention the opening sequence with the crows... Amazing!

That Suspiria sounds interesting. I'll have to look into that one.
