The one thing I would say against 24, the 1st season especially, was that for all of the things to happen in a day that happened seemed a little - radical!? It is a good series, like watching a movie, and if you guys have only watched a few episodes, you haven't really given it a chance, as the first two episodes are basically setting the scene. Agreed, it takes a while to get going, but is very exciting when it kicks into gear. However, I can see while a person would criticize it for being a little over the top at times, especially when so much happens in one day, to one man! Can be a little crazy at times, but good fun.
Smallville is quality too, worth checking out... |

Yeah 3 episodes is not enough to really fall for 24 but I'm suprised the cliff hangers didn't make you try episode 4, 5 etc. Honestly, I saw one or two episodes when it was on BBC last year and wasn't interested, but now seeing it again I realised I missed out on a fresh and original tv program.
If you do watch it I'd say watching the DVD is best, because you get the full pace of the program without any adverts ruining it (and it runs 45mins instead of 1hr) And yes it is a little over the top I suppose, but i can forgive it that because is offers such an interesting and new way of presenting a story. And what a story it is

I love the story twists, they make it so wild and unpredictable.

I think the over the top thing is what put me off. There was also a scene involving ... a hot chick with a black helmet ... erm ... activating a bomb on a plane and then skydiving out of there? That was a little too much |

Darn it, I come prepared to say how I feel about firefly and the topic has already swayed from it to voyager bashing and then 24, lol!
Firefly had the same kind of quality that made me like Farscape so much. The characters are allowed to be multi-facetted, like they're allowed to be both good and bad, weak and strong. And I'm still dying to know the preacher's story, he was the enigma amongst them and I quite enjoyed the little hints about him having a past. Quality show, absolutely. Never bothered to keep track with 24, don't think that it seemed bad or anything, just enough on my plate as it is. Like running around trying to find the releases for Voyager entire seasons...

Call me crazy or socially challenged, but I watched all of the firefly episodes in little more than a day ( 1 tru 5 last night and the rest when I woke up this morning) and I totally fell in love with the 'series'
DAMN YOU FOX FOR CANCELING THIS GREAT GREAT SHOW dammit :/ Lets just hope that the movie works out, I know I'll be seeing it in theaters when it comes out, probably more than once I do hope they keep the original cast for the movie, cause they'll never be able to find a new kaylee or inara Last edited by ysbreker; 02-28-2004 at 11:01 AM. |

Firefly is starting in Finland next wednesday, I'll most likely check it out, because all Joss Whedon's work is interesting.

In other words, I won't be seeing Firefly or its ilk until it appears on 'proper' telly. It makes me a sad clown. |

My TV is currently in the closet since nothing worth watching comes there anymore and it was taking too much space in the living room. Let me know if any good new series emerge.

Yes and they're showing it in the wrong order, just like Fox did.

Damn! Well, assuming they air 'the Train Job' first again, just remember that it wasn't intended to be the pilot
