Lately I've been wondering: What's cookin' in Oxford, Rob?

As I've already said in another thread (but only in passing), I'm not actually in Oxford at the moment (thankfully).
From what I've heard, my college has been unaffected (the High Street has remained dry), but Christ Church meadow is now a lake, and a fair bit of the surrounding area is flooded. Hopefully it will have cleared up a fair bit before the wedding that I'm due to be attending on 4th August. Back home on the South Coast, meanwhile, everything is fine, despite being within spitting distance of the sea. Incidentally, I particularly loved the cartoon from today's Daily Telegraph (go here and click the "Matt" link on the right). |

Hollywood will do anything to promote "Evan Almighty" these days.

What's wrong with being near the sea?

Good to hear that you are ok Lacey, I was thinking about Oxford a lot after I saw the news yesterday.
Oxford was such a nice place to visit, I hope the floods haven't done too much damage...

Nothing. I was pointing out that I'm still near a large body of water, but the sea tends not to rise too much beyond the expected .
That said, being on the south coast basically prevents us from getting snow in the winter, which to my mind (mainly because I don't have to drive a lot) is a bad thing. |
