I think it's more that you, because you're Danish, have trouble pronouncing anything.

and Swedish has the the sound in 'sju' (seven) which the Danes simply can't say - and this amuses the Swedish people very much
That sound differs depending on where in Sweden you come from. Some say the sj-sound like in "shoe", but I say it with my tongue lower. I can't think of an English word to illustrate the sound - it probably doesn't exist in English.

Let us put the theory to the test....I want to hear this said by a Dane and by a Swede so I can compare the difference. Personally, I can't imagine HOW it is pronounced. Anyone up to posting some mp3s ?

And here was I being all nice to the Dane, not mentioning anything about the inarticulate sounds they call Danish.

I believe in Danish it would be something like "ruuuuuuuhgruuuuuuhmeeehfluuuuueeeeh" (the U's being a sort of "errr" sound). However, that's how most Danish sentences sound. Like Frankenstein's monster speaking Norwegian, having just had a root canal and before the anesthetic has worn off.

(j/k, I know how silly prejudices about languages and pronunciation are. I'm sure it's just training, and that what to my ears sounds like a total failure to enunciate is perfectly clear to a person who grew up with the tongue.)

BTW: "Rødgrød"? Red porridge? Huh?
