Default Quiz Wizzâ„¢: Part Two

Hello everyone once again on another Quiz Wizzâ„¢ thread.

Today there's going to be a slight change on the rules. this time you have 1 WEEK to figure out what the answer is!

ok, now for the question:

What is the greatest amount of money you can have in coins (quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies) WITHOUT being able to make change for a dollar ( $ 1.00 ) ?

remember,,, 1 week

What do you mean "without being able to make change for a dollar"? Does this mean it has to be 99 cents or less? If that's the case, I guess the answer would just be 99 cents, since you can make that with quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies and it won't give you change for a dollar. That seems a bit too obvious though, so I get the feeling you mean something else.

Also, I don't think you should wait the whole week if somebody gets it right. Just move on.

23 pennies, 2 dimes, 4 nickels and 1 quarter. Any other answer is wrong, so no point in trying, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Is this right?
$ 0.25 = quarter
$ 0.10 = dime
$ 0.05 = nickle
$ 0.01 = pennie

Oh, I get it now. I misunderstood the phrasing of the question.

The answer is $2.19 as the silver/Sacajawea/Susan B. Anthony dollar are "change" but not "change for a dollar."

Well, to be fair, the guy did specify quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies.

BJ is probably correct, but here is what I came up with.

3 Quarters
9 Dimes
1 Nickel
4 Pennies

Total = $1.74

mycroft: you could make change with your 3 quarters, two of your dimes, and a nickel, and a few other combinations.

True enough. My bad. That makes Erkki the winner. Of course, he still owes me $998.81 for American Civics lessons....
