Aye, happy Independance Day. You Americans have too many holidays, jammy sods. We need to be colonised so we can regain control and have an extra day off.

Seriously though, we have way more statutary holidays in Europe than they do in the US, so we can't begrudge them a day away from the grindstone. Even if it is celebrating the day they struck out on their own and began developing their unique brand of foolishness. |

Heh, most of the posts here are from non-Americans. I guess these people aren't too patriotic.

Hey, we're celebrating, don't pick on us, besides, it's early yet here - only 10:15 am on the east coast.

I still think that the US should have stuck with that design. It would give a whole new ring to the "Star Spangled Banner", don't you think? -

A Dependant is someone who is dependent upon someone or something. The state of being dependent is called dependency in British spelling, and dependancy in US spelling (I think US English uses both spellings of dependency. British spelling uses only dependency). However, no matter which spelling, the term of not being dependent is called Independence, with no alternate spellings.
I didn't actually pay attention how "Independence" was spelled in the thread title. I just type it with "e" automatically. -

Jazhara, how in the world do you remember all that? Is there some sort of mnemonic device involved?
