Anyone also notice how lol became a tame laugh and LOL is now the acceptable form for saying "yeah, I actually laughed at that". I feel rofl and ROFL both mean you laughed, but ROFL means you laughed more. Science.

I tend to say lol in real life in sarcastic tone when everything is going wrong.

Rarely use it online these days. There's always "hehe" for an OK joke and "haha" for a good joke and "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!" for a hysterically awesome joke.
