Luckily I grew out of travel sickness, because I used to suffer from it all the time when I was little. My parents tell me that on a plane or coach, I would always go to my dad before being sick everywhere - obviously I knew what sort of reaction to expect from my mum!

I was also sick in a friend's parents' fancy car when I was 6 or 7, on my way to their birthday party! Strangely enough I never travelled in that car ever again.

That's exactly what I meant by longer distances. Belgium is one of the most densely inhabited regions of the world. We have above excellent public transportation.
I'm 21, and not planning on getting my driving license or a car anytime soon. I go everywhere by bus or by train. It's often faster and always cheaper than driving a car. When I go out, I almost always just take my bike, since most places I go are pretty close to my home anyway.
That might also explain the legal age for driving. It's just not necessary to be able to drive at the age of 16.
