Vintage Sierra game- especially needs an artist
I am looking for people to join our small group at vintage sierra in making a fan game, most likely in agi, but not necessarily so. The thing we need most is an artist. Any help would be appreciated.

I have to say that it seems like a very bad time to try to find people to work on a Sierra fan game, especially right after the news that the very well made fan game Kings Quest IX was just shut down!
My advice is that if you are planning to make a game anyway, make something original that no one can take away from you!

Or don't go public with it until it's done and distributed

Well but the reason that screwed KQIX was that it was an extension of a Sierra series. Ours won't be, if its made. It may use a few characters for minor roles. If they complained, which I don't think this is high profile enough that they would, the names and looks of those minor characters would just be changed.
So Venvedi likely won't attack a lower profile project that isn't an extension of a previous quest by Sierra but they have proven to be *ssholes before, attacking things that they have no right to attack so anything is possible. They may have a legal right, but not a moral right. In that case we'd just have to get a little tricky as I described above and they would be powerless to do anything, unless of course they complain about the use of agi game engine (we'll probably use that). But 100's of fan agi games have been made and they haven't complained about about them, remember KQIX was not agi, it was going to be based off of new technology. They don't seem to care about agi studio, so they would have no reason to care about our game if we didn't use their characters. |
