Actually, I'm glad he bumped this.
I haven't play this game for so long and never finished. He reminded me I need to take the time out to play it again. |

I tried to get back to it to finish it over New Years with my friends, but the PS2 wouldn't work - we used a brand new controller, but it wouldn't give us a cursor for the menu. I think a pin is broken.

I played a few hours of Ico with some friends, and found it as charming and refreshing as your guys made it out to be.
There's waaaay too much fighting for my taste, though, which puts it far from adventure games in my mind. In fact, the regenerating monster reminds me more of Prince of Persia than anything else.

Sands Of Time was so good that I know I have to play this; no PS2, but I may well get a PS3 on the strength of a five year old game!

I'm truly, truly sorry for us all, ICE_COOL - sudden reviving of an older thread by a new member posting a link can easily be mistaken for advertising (especially as some people didn't care to read the whole thread to find the reference to onEscapee ). I apologize for my comments, too, if they offended you.
So, belated welcome to the community. Hope we didn't scare you off.

Simply: If you review this: http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,463 , then you must review ICO.
And yes, I finally got a second hand PStwo

I've never played Bad Mojo, but what with ICO being pretty much a straight up platform game experience, I can't see why AG would review it. Sure, it's a very good to great game, with an unsurpassed emotional impact, but it's not an adventure (and there's nothing wrong with that.) There seems to be a tendency for the supposedly progressive members of this community to want to categorise any good game as an adventure which I find bemusing.
That said, it's true that ICO may interest many primarily adventure game players. Perhaps an article covering non-adventures which may appeal to the same audience as adventure games would be more appropriate. Not that I think AG is obligated to do anything other than whatever the hell they like, but it would probably stop all the clamouring. And by the way, contrary to what some have said in this thread, ICO is at its best when it stays away from storytelling, and at its worst when it involves itself in storytelling. This destructive demand for story in games has got to stop. Storytelling has already run movies into the ground, and I don't want to see that happen to games. |

I wouldnt call ICO a platform game, it's a puzzle game like Bad Mojo. Anyway, yeah I think it'd be a good idea to have an article on games that are not old style AG (or not on PC)and can appeal to this community... i.e. Ico, Shadow of the colossus, Beyond good and evil, Obscure...

^ I'd rather stick to adventure games on this site. We don't want to turn into Just Adventure+.

You guys have me intrigued. How long would it take to complete ICO? I don't have a PS2 but I can borrow one for a couple of weeks. Also, are ICO's action bits easy enough for a nervous nellie like me? I suck at action games because I overreact and am easily startled.
